Sep 1st 2009 5:56AM As for a Night Elf being "stripped of her racial heritage and effectively and physically transforms into a high elf over time" and "it is a painful and irreversible process that only takes a week" while that may happen in terms of RP, I highly doubt you'll see Blizzard removing racials just because a person decides to roll one specific race/class combination. That would require more coding and is effectively punishing them for their decision. In terms of RP, if you don't like Night Elf Mages, treat them like dirt. That's punishment enough.
Your argument though does seem to completely discount your assertion that a Blood Elf Druid is equally likely. If, as you've stated, they are "stripped of her racial heritage and effectively and physically transforms into a high elf over time" and "it is a painful and irreversible process that only takes a week", then High/Blood Elves have no deep connection to nature any more and simply cannot ever become Druids regardless of how hard they may try.
Sep 1st 2009 5:39AM The defenses of the new race/class combinations listed here are all really well put, I've got no real problems with them. I do think, however, that you may have missed the boat on the explanation of the Orc Mage. This may not have come about due to the desire for "moderation" but a genuinely new development on its own. After all the contact that they've had with Mages over the years, and now aiding the Kirin Tor itself, no doubt many Orcs could have decided to see what this whole Magic thing was about.
I'm rather interested in your defense of Blizzard's decision to keep Night Elves out of practicing Shamanism. They have the connection to nature, and communing with the Elements does not preclude one from following the tenets of another religion as well (see Draenei Shaman), so "abandoning Elune" isn't likely at all. Indeed, the description of what Elune naturally does (bringing peace and balance where there's turmoil so that life may thrive) sounds exactly what is at the core of Shamanism. Indeed, Shamanism wouldn't lead the Night Elves astray, but bring them closer to Her. With the Elements thrown into turmoil with the Cataclysm, why wouldn't the Night Elves answer their pleas for help?
Sep 1st 2009 4:51AM "Sinking 1000 Needles would sink Shimmering Flats, Tanaris, Feralas, etc."
Yes, it might mean that. It might also mean that the Cataclysm caused the mountains on the Tanaris border to shift and prevent that destruction, at least somewhat.
Feralas is probably going to be a bog though.
Sep 1st 2009 3:35AM WoW2?! Are you insane? With a complete redesign of levels 1-60 content, what do you think Cataclysm is?!
