Sep 1st 2009 3:33PM Well, I've been playing nearly 5 years now. Unplanned means just that. 'Scheduled' defines the weekly (although not every week, go figure that one out) maintenance. Did Blizz plan for extra downtime? No; therefore it's 'unplanned'.
And yes, of course everyone would go to some other realm if their realm was down. If you've been playing long enough, you'd know that's exactly what everyone did way back when.
Sep 1st 2009 2:21PM Never have I seen a system with so much downtime. There must be a terrible design somewhere with at least one single point of failure that prevents them from bringing up some realms while they continue working others. I remember in the early days that an outage was 4hours, now 8 (or more) seems to be the norm (granted we had some wicked lag back in the day). Even back then, some realms would come up and people would play alts they had stashed on various servers.
Can anyone tell me whether we get credited for these unplanned extensions of downtime?
