...context is everything. Al Gore never really said he invented the Internet either.

The Daily Grind: Do you like dynamic events? {Massively}

There is some serious retconning going on about the last Zombie invasion.

The game has been out since late 2004. The Zombie invasion lasted all of 5 days and was never going to last longer than a week. The completely unavoidable portion lasted about 2 days max. The servers have been offline weeks longer than this entire event lasted since launching.

And still a few people claimed they were going to rage-quit and cancel their subs. The complete lack of perspective blows my mind.

I still say that Blizzard pulled the plug on this world event early based on a few angry power gamers who were pissed that they suddenly had to play with other people for a couple of days in an MMO. And yet they still bristle with anger every chance they get.

The Daily Grind: Do you like dynamic events? {Massively}

Oct 28th 2010 11:14AM If it's completely optional, then it's not really dynamic.

Just like the end of Vanilla (or was it TBC?) where dragons (Infernals , maybe?) spawned in Org and I assume other cities. Unless you went out of your way to get involved, it was nothing more than bad street theater. It was rather sad and uninspiring. I likely can't remember when it happened because it was so forgettable.

Then there is the scourge "invasion". Basically some zombies pop out outside the city or in out of the way places and...walk around doing nothing. They were nothing more than seasonal resource nodes. Wow...what a gripping world event. They might as well have been having a little undead picnic outside the gates.

People remember the blood plague and they still talk about the last zombie event because it affected everyone in the world. It wasn't just some cut shook things up.

I'm hopeful this will be a bit annoying. I'm praying that a few people who are mainly interested in linear gaming and quest grinding are inconvenienced. Maybe not to the extent of the zombie event, but I don't want this to be completely optional.

A giant, world destroying dragon should not be completely avoidable.

Cataclysm Beta: Female worgen dance video {WoW}

Oct 28th 2010 12:18AM Exactly.

Especially since the Male Worgen is sashaying to Timberlake.

I liked Lady Gaga better when she was Madonna.

Female worgen now available on the beta {WoW}

Oct 27th 2010 11:58PM I was hoping they'd make the permagrimace optional, but I guess not. And I'll reserve judgment until after the game is out, but that sounds a lot like a pig rooting for tubers to me.

Allods Online "more free-to-play than ever" with new patch {Massively}

Oct 27th 2010 3:37PM OT:

Maybe I missed the article mentioning this, but Champions Online is going FTP.

Deathwing is coming {WoW}

Oct 27th 2010 2:12PM I'm worried it won't be annoying at all.

Some things should not be optional. Hopefully this will be similar to the zombie event in that it affects everyone, but not so similar that it leads to the same amount of nerd rage from players who are only interested in fast linear gaming.

I get it...your bank alt got killed again by some zombie. It wasn't the end of the world.

This time it is :)

Anti-Aliased: End of line pt. 2 {Massively}
