Sep 12th 2010 6:31AM For those who have not been playing wow for a long time, this is very similar to what they did near the end of BC, they updated talents, gave us a little taste of what was to come so we were not to traumatized, gave them a chance to get a feel for players reaction. They added some in game events. I’m not sure if this one has in game events but I sure hope so, its usually very fun.
Our talent tree back then even with a level cap of 70 made most classes way OP for the content and they nerfed outland 30% I think I think it was. The combo made end game content very easy.
In BC the LK sent his plague ship/invaders to random locations in Azeroth, the elites could be soloed and dropped epics with + damage to undead stats. They also dropped the ghost relic you see people walking around with ghosts following them today, that is from the event. People were infected with the plague and once infected could infect others (via pet bar), got kind of annoying because players would get infected on purpose and form raids and invade their own cities. As the plague spread through the months the likelihood of death from it increased and it just got annoying. (I was a priest back then so I did not mind much with Abolish disease) People running up to you in a panic "CURE ME DEAR GOD HELP ME" was amusing.
Bottom Line, if this Is what I think it is, this is exciting, I love this period in wow, gives you a little something new to do while you wait for the expansion.
For me in BC is was like another phase in the game my memories are split up into PRE BC, BC, WOTLK EVENT BC (as short as it was), WoTLK..
Apr 19th 2010 2:03AM Anyone remember this ad from the .com boom? The uproar caused my company to get all servers from qsol back then.
Quickest image i could find:
Feb 2nd 2010 11:45AM @Darkseid because you don't seem to understand that you newer players shine as newer players. under a giant spot light. Kind of like the old man can handle a harsher life then we can, the older players can actually see fire, work for gear, and we get sick of carrying players and listening to them complain about how hard stuff is. The fact that blizzard actually has to speed up a heroic by 8 seconds because the newer players can't handle it is a testament to that.
Feb 2nd 2010 11:04AM "Anomalus will now use the Create Rift ability only once, down from 3 times."
This does not not speed the instance but a few seconds. The ONLY reason to do this is to let failed healers into the "Glory To the hero" club.
Feb 2nd 2010 11:00AM Glory to the nerfed hero?
I just don't see why they did not remove Glory To the hero. They made most of this stuff so much easer.
"Anomalus will now use the Create Rift ability only once, down from 3 times."
This does not not speed the instance but a few seconds. The ONLY reason to do this is to let failed healers into the "Glory To the hero" club. I swear if i see a healer get this in my guild this week i'm kicking him out of the guild for waiting.
I'm just glad i got this achievement on my toons post glitch patch when blizzard was making this stuff harder, and and pre nerf (today).
SO QQ all we want, you get Glory To the hero after today, its glory to the nerfed hero. Like doing post kara content when they 30% nerfed outland.
But with all this said, its Lich King -Heroics! Its like achievements were added just to see if we could think like we had to in BC Heroic, guess we can't.
Fact is, you can get to 80 with out knowing how to play.
And I LOVE it when the new players say we are QQ for saying this type of stuff as they are above. Its like "So what if i can't play for crap, stop your QQ, this is the new wow."
I said it, here is to me getting voted down by the new kids. ;)
Dec 31st 2009 5:27PM "finding out the fugitive's latitude and longitude from his IP"
Really! Are they sure they did that? Kinda funny - even the most basic geek understands how funny that is.
Dec 30th 2009 8:40AM HOS! Yes, i have the same issue. I even did the "I'm sorry guys i just ran this 3 times i just can't do it again" and left group. I was really sorry, and i was really sick of it. It took the 15 minute debuff and guess what, HoS again on the next queue.
I started to think it was a penalty for healers and tanks, the price of the instant Queue.
and i agree with you 100% on skipping the other bosses, get in, get out, now.
For me, HOS is not that bad expect i am a healer and during the event the DPS and tank end up standing in Fire and Getting Dark Matter on them (slow moving purple ball from back of room that gives you a 100% damage debuff) , both avoidable, but both, fill me with discussed to see. It rattles me to see them standing in the fire with this debuff on them, and this is almost unhealable if the entire group is in it. Fire Not a problem, fire with 100% more damage, not good.
BUG: One other flaw i have with LFG and this is a bug i have found. If by chance you are teleporting form one zone to another, you can hear the LFG "Group Formed" dialog come up, but when the next zone loads only a few seconds later, it auto cancels you for the group as the interface reloads.
So if by chance you get a group while you change zones, you are auto declined. Not a bummer as a healer, but that 15 minute wait DPS has to deal with, what a bummer.
Dec 14th 2009 9:18AM I have found the most common instance is CoS - so with that its different for everyone. I got 300+ Triumph for an ALT. In that time i seen CoS way way too many times. To the point it was just "You have got to be joking!".
Dec 10th 2009 7:28AM Professional, is a two a way street, one thing I learned in business - a to reply to unprofessional with unprofessional - is about as unprofessional as it you can get.
My point was not taken well. This shammy bent over backwards for the guild, if you read the full context, the players were in general being asses to him.
I read into the context of things like this. His application was rejected, after some time. The GM response to his "You raid like little girls" comment, was far more unprofessional then the comment itself, in fact, i seen in his comments how much the "You raid like little girls" got under his skin, and it showed his true colors. But i think it takes a much more mature person than your average wow player to see that.
A Young Shammy got rejected, -got hurt and lashed out.
A immature GM, got his ego bent (with ease) - and lashed out.
Dec 8th 2009 4:22AM Playing this on PTR, the three instances are much more raid like then heroic like. The fights rely on DPS stopping dps at times or you kill a player, or the tank depending on the boss, healer knowing when to back off heals or you can heal the boss, tanks knowing they can only take so much damage, the group being patient enough to let a tank round up a few adds. They are super heroics. Require some skill.
but with that said...
PTR is about 70-80% level 30s that rolled a free level 80 pre-made and still see success - maybe it wont be so bad. I have seen arcane mages do 1kDPS in full H-T9 premade on PTR, i have seen players attempt to run out of the instance when a boss fight started "because it scared them"
I guess what i'm saying is, thank god this is going live.
