Aug 16th 2010 10:47PM I've got a question that's a bit of a mash-up between game mechanics & lore, just for fun:
In troll culture, there is a "class" (if you will) known as the "shadow hunter." According to the lore I can find, shadow hunters appear to be more of a caster type of character than an actual hunter, more of a practitioner of dark voodoo & so forth. However, troll culture also clearly has priests as well.
Enter the playable "shadow priest" -- everything they do sounds almost verbatim what troll "shadow hunters" do: special bond with the dark Loa, ability to curse their enemies & heal their allies at the same time, balancing between light & shadow...
So, from an RP point of view, would trolls identify playable shadow priests more with the "shadow hunter" role, or would they just see them as a priest?
Aug 14th 2010 3:15AM Oh, wait... blood elves already are on the EK map in-game now. Geeze, it's been too long since I've looked at that. Not to mention I'm half-asleep. Sorry... pay no attention to the silly man going back to the corner.
Aug 14th 2010 3:11AM 'tis interesting, yes? I'm skeptical 'til I hear otherwise, but it would sure make for quite a change if Quel'thalas was attached to the real world again. Perhaps our friends in Anaheim have changed their mind and come up with a solution to the 4-step Battle Chest conundrum...
My guess is it's just a cigar, though, unfortunately.
Aug 6th 2010 12:06PM Ha! I thought the same thing when I read that about good ol' Belfaire. It was at once heartwarming, and somewhat world-changing to learn of the ol' Talbuk's true identity -- it's like being told Santa Clause doesn't exist or something.
Used to hang out in the Customer Service Forums for so long, so many fond memories of seeing the friendly, neighborhood Talbuk grazing through the forums... glad to know he's still around more than just in our hearts! ;-)
Aug 4th 2010 12:12AM According to what we've seen so far, yep: spellpower stats on gear (minus weapons to some extent, as you point out) will be getting transmuted to intellect.
Aug 4th 2010 12:09AM Believe I heard tell of a purchasable 310% speed coming in Cataclysm at one point awhile back. I haven't heard definitively whether that's still the plan of record, or if it got moved off to the "Dance Studio" patch, but I do recall hearing that was one of the gold sinks coming.
I'm sure there will be more novelty mounts (a la the Traveler's Tundra Mammoth) somewhere though, maybe of the aerial or nautical variety, to use as gold sinks.
Jun 11th 2010 12:43AM Actually, that's the entrance to The Drag as seen from where the Bank/AH are now. Very much like.
Jun 2nd 2010 7:09PM In a simplified sense, your Authenticator has an internal "seed" value tied to its serial number. It then has a time-based algorithm that uses that seed to generate a specific 6-digit number. On Blizzard's server sits an application that knows, based on the serial number of the Authenticator applied to your account, what your "seed" is and uses the same algorithm to generate the same specific 6-digit number. If they match, voila!
They may appear "random" to humans, but they're very much mathematically ordained... the secret decoder ring is just very well protected.
Jun 2nd 2010 5:05PM Are you referring to the "banshee" condition of formerly living elves? That's actually not limited to Night Elves, as several High Elf and Night Elf females are depicted as banshees throughout lore. Sylvanas Windrunner probably being one of the more familiar ones to WoW players, although she no longer appears as a banshee after assuming the form of a Dark Ranger through necromancy.
Not sure it's explicitly stated anywhere that there *aren't* Blood Elf banshees, but there's no evidence I know of that there *are* either. Maybe something with the whole fel magic thing tainted them to the point that bansheeification no longer happens? Something akin to selling your soul to the devil or something like that.
Interesting question! /hopes for an epilogue to Anne's excellent Elven KYL series.
May 25th 2010 12:19PM Easily my favorite 'crendor vid, far & away. Which is saying a lot, because the man can make me ROFL like no other.
Not sure if I laughed harder at the "ah, screw it..." line, or the VoA chart, or the "Shut up, Billy" line!
+1 Internet Mastery, good sir.
