No matter if you're Frost or Arcane, Flamestrike + Blizzard does significantly more DPS then pure Blizzard spam. All depends on how long the mobs will live ofcourse, like in heroics they often die before blizzard ends if you're in a roflpwning group, so don't bother then. But in ICC or very big puls it's the way to go for AoE. I even reapply the flamestrike dot if they have a lot of health, like the trash in front of marrowgar.
And as you said, the talent spec is a personal thing. But I'm not sure about the improved blizzard. I'd put the point in Icy Floes for a shorter CD on Icy Veins because I don't think many (begining) thanks will like mobs that are slowed and then might even run to you!
But that's just my humble 2 cents.
Mar 13th 2010 3:20AM Shame about the chatter 'copy text' button on the sword. :D
Besides, I feel like my mage will get pwnd by every retadin that walks by with that in his hands.. *sigh*
Jan 25th 2010 9:00AM I'm the silent DPS.
I bring enough reagents, flasks, fishies (and other food) and enchanting mats. I say hi in /raid an ts. But often I'm pretty silent for the rest. I make a table when we enter or when someone asks for mage food. I put down a fishie after every wipe. My guild note now is 'Fishman'
I also pew pew as hard as I can. I see a add running to a healer, I'll counterspell just to get aggro then slow it so I can kill it or a tank can grab it of me. I'll spellsteal any buff that an enemy may have and go invisible when my threat goes to high.
I always think those stuff go by without many people noticing, but I'm happy with the fact that I'm their favorite mage. :)
Dec 7th 2009 11:29AM A summarization of the things everyone already knows?
Sorry, but I've read this once to often.
Nov 23rd 2009 12:41PM I've started buying cards since like, last week, this just gives me more reason to spend my money on cards :D
Sep 7th 2009 12:18PM Well, perhaps I just need to keep going for a while then. Atm I smite one, drink, rince and repeat. Ofc with the shield. Which isn't really something enjoyable.
I even enjoy grinding kurenai rep more with my mage in frost spec, pop the shield, lure them all with ice lance, reuse the shield and blizzard..
Sep 7th 2009 11:58AM Hello? Mages are cloth wearers as well?
Sep 7th 2009 11:14AM I gotta agree on most of this. Although my priest is only level 9, it's just not fun to play. I like my mage, better said, I love my mage. They wear cloth, they can't heal them self, but leveling to 80 in frost is simply amazing. If you know how to slow, it's great 'cause you can take 0 damage and kill multiple mobs. You just need a brain to do so..
My priest however has a shield without the need of spending talents, but .. she smites, she puts a dot on them.. and if I lure a 2nd one, I'm screwed. My 42 paladin is even more fun, but because of the plate, all I need to do is press 1, 2, 3 and see the mob die, perhaps heal me once every 3 million mobs. O.o Dk's are the same ..
So, the first of those 3 characters to hit 80, if ever, is the priest. Because you need some skill to level them.
