Shifting Perspectives: The druid of 2009, Page 3 {WoW}

Jan 7th 2010 3:28PM I love your posts so freakin' much, Allison. I cannot say that enough. You are a fantastic druid blogger and impressively knowledgeable about all aspects of the class, but your appreciation for the odd history and peculiar subtleties of feral is particularly fantastic! I look forward to the increased focus on feral, though I fear there will not be much to discuss after your last few brilliant posts on the topic.

OK yes, I'm being fanboyish, but some things are worth being fanboyish about.

You wouldn't like me when I'm hungry {WoW}

Jan 3rd 2010 6:13PM God yes. Please.

And while we're at it, other tanks, I realise there's a lot of pressure on you to run the instance as fast as possible from trigger happy DPS and bored healers, but please try to at least wait until (a) the entire group is in the instance and (b) the healer who's just respecced from DPS has had a chance to get some mana before you start chain pulling.

Dec 24th 2009 10:01AM If you think about it, each and every single one of our characters is little more than an extreme Mary Sue.'s Weekly Comic: Byron, the Tauren Rogue! {WoW}

Dec 22nd 2009 1:12PM I have never before seen such a cute looking female dwarf. Wow.

The ram is also adorable!

Raid Rx: Cheater's guide to healing heroic Val'kyr Twins {WoW}

Dec 4th 2009 5:05PM It's not Mana Burn. It's probably an elemental shaman's Clearcasting with two charges remaining, displayed on-screen using an addon (maybe something like PowerAuras). Various spells and item effects use the same icons.

Totem Talk: Shaman Itemization resists a clever title {WoW}

Nov 28th 2009 8:40PM Ideal elemental gear has (in order of preference) Spellpower, Haste and Crit. Ideal resto gear has Haste*, Spellpower, and Crit. Elemental needs some bits here and there with hit rating and resto some bits with MP5. But basically they do want the same stats - haste and SP as priorities, with crit as a the favoured third stat. The fact that Blizzard keeps putting crit and MP5 on everything does not reflect them itemising for resto so much as it reflects them refusing to pander to either spec's fetishes.

*Those restos who spam LHW would prefer crit over haste once past the 50% threshold. Still, most restos value haste as their best stat and do not need more mana regen.

Also, crit is not exactly useless for Elementals, it's just not as good point-for-point as spellpower or haste. It's still a very valuable tertiary stat.

Shifting Perspectives: Why effective health needs to die, part 1 {WoW}

Nov 19th 2009 11:46AM I love reading your articles. They are always accurate, insightful and manage to describe and work through simply and thoroughly issues that others would struggle to communicate in several pages.

Patch 3.3 PTR: Limited attempts to clear Icecrown {WoW}

Nov 15th 2009 9:20AM Limited attempts has had an interesting effect in delaying "world first"-type kills/achievements. Which is probably fair enough and adds an extra layer of challenge for the super hardcore. But limited attempts tied in to loot rewards is an awful, awful mechanic: your raid may be good enough to eventually "beat" heroic mode, but if you don't beat it easily enough then sorry you don't deserve the good rewards. I fail to see how that makes sense.
