Mar 28th 2012 12:36PM *Asian Studies Master degree candidate hat on*
China and Japan(where samurai are from) have a long, difficult history. And, particularly since the events leading up to and during World War II China has not been a big fan of Japan. At all. The Rape of Nanjing, the take over of Manchuria, and extensive, brutal experiments by the Japanese on Chinese peasants has created a lot of anger and resentment- which is intensified by Japan's reluctance to acknowledge their crimes in text books.
There is also the issue of (to quote South Park) "No teriyaki is not from F#*&ing China". Mixing and matching Asian cultures and aesthetics can be offensive and distracting, so Blizz made the right call to choose one inspiration and stick to it.

And here is my response to ghostcrawler, lil killjoy that he is. I think I'll go murder crabs in game.
Mar 20th 2012 10:45PM The one they have for water is essentially a sideways (川） But I do agree with your point- it keeps the flavor without driving those who know the inspiration languages insane. I think the creator's of the Pandaren language ended up borrowing from multiple languages to make it work.
Mar 18th 2012 2:42PM Judging from some of the talents, it seems very likely. It would give demonology a distinct character and use, and it would clearly delineate the difference between mages, shadow priests and warlocks. And it would add another tank type- which would help with queue times.
Mar 13th 2012 1:33PM My buddy imp is Rulnik (called Rully), and my fel hunter is Haanum- I call him Hanners. I love both of them.
Mar 13th 2012 1:30PM My favorite toon ever is my gnome warlock. I leveled her affliction, and she was just SO MUCH FUN to play. PVE or PVP. In PVP I'd run around and DOT people- didn't matter if I died, because shortly after, you were dead too. PVE I think I juggled 8 mobs at once on occasion, and it was a manic session of running like hell, popping howl of terror, and fearing everything.
And once you hit max level, its way easy to farm for meats. I used to do brisk business in WOTLK by flying into Sholazar Basin and killing everything in sight. And then there was this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCJuF3KtFcs . Cloth farming was a great exercise in mob juggling.
Mar 9th 2012 2:15AM I absolutely COVET the baby murloc pet.
Mar 2nd 2012 3:37PM Gnomes are getting monks in MoP, but I agree, we do need gnome hunters. Druids are too nature focused for technophile gnomes. Paladins are a maybe, as they could possibly do the same lore base that they have for gnomes getting priests. Hunters are the best fit. The starting pet could be a little robot.
Mar 1st 2012 4:05PM I once ran into 5-tauren shaman in a Warsong Gulch while leveling my lock alt(now my main) through pvp. The lead was named Captain Planet, and his buddies were Earth, Fire, Wind and Water. After getting stomped by this idiot for a few minutes, the Alliance side pulled together, and we made it our singular mission to put this guy down. Our winning strat?
TAKE OUT THE LEAD TOON. Once Cap was down, the others were easy to kill, because they didn't have the main toon to take orders from. We ended up winning that WSG, and I never felt more pride in my faction than I did that day.
May 3rd 2011 1:28PM GNOME POWER!
I'm a proud player of gnomes. I've got four. My warlock, who is as adorable as she is evil, my bubblegim haired DK, my baby mage Trelawny, and my punky looking Holy Priest, who was race changed from Draenai the instant I could do it. They're an awesome, fun race, and I will defend them to the end.
