The Daily Grind: Did BioWare make the right call? {Massively}

Jul 25th 2011 9:26PM @Mystal
The thing that more people are complaining about than simply having issues getting hold of a pre-order is that every country outside the US/EU umbrella has been told "The game will not be available in your region at launch, and we have no idea when it will be, if at all"
When people from these spurned countries try to pre-order the game, figuring they'll just play on EU/US servers, they are having to lie about their location or use US proxies to even be able to pre-order. The pre-order company linked on the Bioware website just says "SWTOR is not available in your region".

Couple with the fact that the community manager mentioned something about IP address blocking to prevent people from playing in any area other than US/EU and then promptly went to bed without clarifying himself or dealing with the horde of angry fans...

Well, I'm sure you can see why so many of us are pissed.

The Daily Grind: Did BioWare make the right call? {Massively}

Oh yes, because places like Australia frequently get told that AAA MMO titles aren't going to be available in their region at release. Of *course* it all balances out in the end >

The Daily Grind: Is the sub fee preventing you from playing DC Universe Online? {Massively}

Jan 24th 2011 8:21PM I purchased this game from D2D when they had their 20% off sale, thinking that it'd probably provide $40 entertainment.
I subscribed, downloaded the client, and as soon as I saw they were ripping off Australian subscribers for an extra $5/month I immediately cancelled my sub.
I'll play my 30 days and then maybe come back when they fix the sub cost or go F2P.

All the World's A Stage: So Sue me {WoW}

Jan 16th 2011 11:05PM Sometimes it can be just as fun to play a middle-of-the-road, ordinary person as it can to try playing a Mary Sue or "Disability Sue". Remember, not everyone is extraordinary or trying to rise above crippling flaws.

Enter Gronk the orc. Eighth child of eleven (with another on the way) Gronk is pretty much what you'd expect; large, green, tough and wearing mail that looks like it was probably well made once but is quite worn by now.
Gronk joined the military not long after his tusks began to grow in, just like the last four members of his family and found that basic training seemed to be full of royal princes, rebellious noble-women, demon-touched souls, half-elementals and Orcs with missing legs and a pile of disabilities, all swearing they would 'take their rightful place'. This always bothered Gronk, since doesn't 'take your rightful place' imply that putting your life on the line for the Horde is somehow a 'lesser' thing?

Thankfully Gronk's drill segregant worked him too hard for there to be much time for thinking, and soon Gronk will be finished with training and ready to head out into the world, serve the horde, and collect plenty of battle scars (it's just not Orcish for your only scar to be the one your sister gave you when you said she was 'pretty as an Elf').

Lichborne: The basics of leveling your death knight from 80 to 85 {WoW}

Nov 30th 2010 9:38PM You're quite right that it's now a pre-req, I probably could have worded that better :)
I know a few people who grumble, grudgingly put a point into it, maybe put it on some far corner of their action bars and never use it.

Agreed on glyphing it, I did the same :)
