Blood Pact: Meet the minions, part 3 - the succubus and crowd control, page 1 {WoW}

Nov 23rd 2009 11:11PM Another terrible warlock column.

"Horror is different from fear in that it can't be removed but that's not a big issue on a three second duration (except maybe in that PvP thing)."

Wrong. Horror can be removed just like any other magic effect. The only difference between horror and fear is that horror can't be broken by specifically fear breaking effects. Horror can be dispelled.

"It's [seduction] a very fragile spell, in that damage to either the mob or the succubus will break it, but the fact that it's being done by the minion and not the caster makes it very powerful indeed."

I'm pretty sure damage on the succubus will not break seduction.

"This [how of terror] is all sounding good but if I have several mobs around me then typically they are hitting me and a 1.5 second cast isn't quick enough. It can get you out of some jams though, especially if you use the voidwalker bubble trick."

VW trick? What about Shadowfury. You know, the second most important lock cc? SF -> HoT. This is the most important trick that every semi-competent PvP lock will use.

"/showtooltip Shadowbolt
/cast Shadowbolt
/cast[pet:succubus] Soothing Kiss"

WTF? Why not just auto-cast? And no-one uses Succubus in PvE. Infact, she's hardly used in PvP, VW and the Felpuppy is nearly always prefered.

Blood Pact: Warlock guide to surviving Trial of the Crusader, part 1 {WoW}

And this article is not about Ulduar.

Blood Pact: Warlock guide to surviving Trial of the Crusader, part 1 {WoW}

Sep 22nd 2009 8:16AM "locks ***used*** to tank (cant remeber what phase) on illdan when it was an epic encounter?! get your facts straight before the QQing"

Back in classic and BC where lock gear was itemized to have more stamina. Now locks have no more HP than rogues. And often times in PvE gear, have less.

The last case of warlock tanking was Sarth 3D, where the voidwalker, and not the warlock was actually tanking. Warlocks don't tank anymore.

"At least one guild on my server (Maelstrom) has successfully used a lock to tank the stationary worm. That way, two tanks can kite the other one around and if one gets the acid thing then they can run to the center and the other tank and still be kiting it around.

It's happened, it works, stop being such a dick. "

Right, a guild has used the most convoluted strategy ever to beat a boss on that is on par with Naxx difficultly. When everyone else uses the much simpler and proven strategy of traditional tanks and people with the poison running to the tank, or just use demonic teleport as I said. In the case of the stationary worm, there is nothing special about the locks. Locks are **not** tanky anymore. You could just replace it with a moonkin, both would last just as long.

The writer is clueless. He suggests using Demon Armor, when in this case it's not even physical damage. And "cover any slacking healers with Drain Life". Is this guy fucking serious? Drain Life which heals for 800 HPS. Demo locks can't even drain tank the first pull of heroic MGT, let alone a raid boss. Then he goes on to say "Warlock tanking is typically used if a tank dies or if you want two on the other worm for Burning Bile rotation". Firstly, lock tanking is not typical. If the tank dies, an offtank picks it up, not a warlock, which would be specced destro. And I have never heard of any one in all the runs, videos, strategy guilds, and forum discussion, require a burning bile rotation for this easy encounter.

And that's just the tanking part. Shit article. Completely useless.

Sep 22nd 2009 7:20AM Love being rated down for having the only useful hint in the whole article.

The rest is bullshit like, tanking Acidmaw and Dreadscale with a demo lock.

Give that a try and see how it goes.

Blood Pact: Warlock guide to surviving Trial of the Crusader, part 1 {WoW}

Sep 22nd 2009 5:20AM This article is trash.

It's hardly exclusive to warlocks. It should be just renamed "General facts that everyone already knows about TOC10/25".

Warlock tanking? WHAT??!?!?!?!?! The writer clearly has no clue, as no warlock, even with SL and Meta would even be able to tank any raid boss without being gibbed in less than 3 seconds.

This article also fails to provide any useful warlock exclusive tips, such as putting a demonic circle, on the bottom right of the arena where the fire worm is being tanked, so you don't have to drag your slow ass across to the tank to get Paralytic Poison dispelled.

This article is rubbish and filled with bullshit.
