Encrypted Text: The Shock and Awe build {WoW}

Apr 4th 2012 3:43PM "This is the second part of the equation. Not only are the daggers very OP, but they are the easiest legendaries to attain yet. And that's saying something, after Taregosa."

It's on par with Dragonwrath, a month or so faster, but exclusive to only one person at a time per raid. 4 months of raiding vs. 5.. to something that will be BiS for two tiers of content, to something that will only be BiS for the remainder of the second half of the last tier of content.

If you don't want PVE runing your PVP. Go to the arena tourney servers for your pristine PVP environment. No legendaries to ruin your day... no PVP'ers to feign interest in a raid group only to drop once they've gotten their OP PVP trinket and have to refill the spot.

It's not like PVP ever affects what happens in PVE or anything....

Apr 4th 2012 12:58PM "Cows go 'Moo!', Dogs go 'Woof!', mmorpg'ers go 'the PVP is unbalanced'." -- Zero Punctuation, the Escapist Magazine.

I can't say that I didn't take my arcane mage out for some melee one shotting fun in BG's at the end of Wrath when they threw class balance for a loop. It was deleicious, but short lived, revenge fun.

Thanks for the info. PVE-only rogue alt gets orange daggers on Saturday. I might have to do a Tol Barad or two... My warrior friend did it with Shadowmourne -- followed him around on my healer as he chewed up the battlefield and got chased down by the entirety of the entire other team because he had a legendary. Guess it's good that rogues have stealth, eh?

Shifting Perspectives: The joy of panic {WoW}

Apr 3rd 2012 5:43PM > Do Death Knight tanks hate Death Knight tanking and they forgot to tell me?

My, some people have short memories. No. That's healers who HATED DK tanking circa T12. (And I raged and raged about squishy DK tanks in healer chat back in good ole T12.) They had to make the bosses hit harder because paladins and warriors had mitigation because they were hitting a mastery cap. Before the changes to DK tanking there were some major squishiness issues.

DK tanks in high-end guilds were relegated to going frost (which was strong DPS at the times, especially on H-Rag) or swap characters and complaints, whining and QQ ensued.

Response by Blizz:
"Right now it's tough for DK tanks because they're the only ones on anything resembling an active mitigation model. The one active mitigation guy is going to look like he's working harder than the passive mitigation guys because, in a lot of ways, he is. If all tanks had worked this way from the start, it would be the norm, and nobody would be worried about jumping onto that model."

Blizz's long term solution to this problem was to adopt the DK model for all tanking classes. We're seeing it now. Active mitigation is gonna take some getting used to.

The Queue: Why it's not time for a warlock tank {WoW}

Apr 3rd 2012 1:00PM Got people who don't wanna do old content? Screw the selfish players.. go without 'em!

Use cross real raiding to find a repalcement. I raid lead a t11 group that I pugged on Open Raid to finish the t11 metas recently.

Of monks, mains, and the ability to change {WoW}

Apr 2nd 2012 4:36PM My main is and always has been my Paladin. I raid on him, I do achievement son him and don't really try on anyone else. It'll be interesting to see how things change if they ever get account bound achievements.

He's had co-main status with raiding toons--a Mage, a Shaman, and now my Rogue who was leveled 1-60 with granted RAF levels and 60-85 following my Paladin around through wrath dungeons or quest leveling. And he alt raided T11 and T13. He's my Paladin's lil questing buddy and will be following him through Panadalandia.

I guess I'm lucky that I'm 'meh' on Pandas and that I can't really get excited about leveling another character 1-90 so I'll likely not do it or just wait till doldrums hit after the start of the expansion to roll a Belf or Troll Monk. Or wait to see if they open up SoR to Monks.

Mists of Pandaria Beta: Temple of the Jade Serpent overview {WoW}

Apr 2nd 2012 3:39PM "This isn't quite the same as that. The zone design in Jade Forest is nowhere near as linear as any of the zones in Cataclysm -- so the "main" storyline is actually not too terribly long. I got through the whole thing in a couple of hours, and that was reading all the quests and figuring out what was going on."

So... my 5th alt that got leveled by herbing doesn't care that it's just a "few quests and won't really take that long".. And Flasktaur help me if I wanna take some of my ultracasual friends through the dungeon on a whim one night. it turns a quick dungeon run into annoying ordeal of an attunement process. "Sorry dude, you gotta do a couple hours of questing before we can play together..." Yeah... No thanks!

Player choice: if you want to quest, quest. If you want to farm dungeons, farm dungeons. If you want to herb and archeologize.... do that.

PLEASE... Stop advocating for blocking alternative progression paths.

Know Your Lore: The curious dissonance of Alliance leveling {WoW}

Apr 2nd 2012 12:54PM @"They play an extremely long game and even though it feels like they aren't doing anything, when you look back you can see how the story has grown and matured."

I highly, highly doubt that they play this "long game" at all. From last year's Blizzcon coverage on the lore panel we see where they basically come up with material for one zone and then they're done with it... even if they leave threads hanging and they might try to find something to do with the character down the line. When you look back you see how the story has little bursts of creativity that actually aren't very well connected at all.

There might be a vague central theme that have have for the long-haul, but the plot lines that happen aren't well planned at all.

The Dragon Soul -- a post-mortem {WoW}

Mar 30th 2012 5:57PM "Meh." describes DS and the majority of our experience in Cataclysm. It didn't live up to previous Xpacs.

One quote that I read on a forum somewhere went something like: "In Wrath we fought toe-to-toe with the Lich King. In Cataclsym we fought Deathwing's toes."

The lore was was ill-planned and farmed off to merchandise tie-in department. Major characters from questing were just sort of ignored... i.e. we spent a lot of time with Garona in the TH leading up to fight Cho'gall but she wasn't used in any of the final bosses. The biggest lore connection we had to Cata leveling questing in DS that you can find is that the boss models were recycled from the questing zones. Uh-huh.
