Jul 14th 2010 8:11PM He's giving the new guy the courtesy of being able to settle in before opening a can of fireball right in the new lock guy's face.
Chivalry and all that.
Jul 14th 2010 8:09PM I think even the first pass over these trees look pretty cool.
I found myself drooling over the prospect of frostfire orb. I'm not sure what it is, the fact that frostfire could very well be viable again, the thought of fire orb being usuable even in a frost spec, or the thought of the graphic for a frostfire orb.
Jun 2nd 2010 4:50PM What could it hurt? Order one for me, please!
May 30th 2010 10:38PM I actually had my main (a human mage, a real academic who's always interested in the scientific side of things) retire after the fall of the Lich King. He had enough adventuring for a lifetime and now that the world is surely safe with Arthas' death, he's settled down back in Stormwind to read all the books he can find, his goal to read them all before he dies. He'll be unceremoniously pulled out of retirement when the world suddenly explodes. He'll have read up on some magical theories, allowing him to try out flame orbs and fog walls, as well as a little dabbling in the flow of time. Of course, he'll be a little resentful of not getting the peaceful life he dreamed of, but life isn't fair, is it?
Essentially, t let's me shelve him for a while and try out some alts and even (gasp!) other games while I wait on Cataclysm, then pull him back out when it's time.
May 25th 2010 10:15AM Oh wow, somebody else from Moonrunner? I'm surprised, it's pretty rare you see anyone from Moonrunner out on the forums or anywhere else.
Regardless, pretty neat pic.
May 23rd 2010 12:08PM So if we're the Spongemage Magicpants of WoW, then I guess that leaves our slow companions the warlocks to ask "Is mayonnaise a spell?"
Apr 11th 2010 7:27PM It seems to me that mana will work like this:
For fire and frost, mana gain will be similar to how it is now: When it gets low, you have a few last ditch tools on cooldown like evocation, but there's no penalty for having less mana otherwise except that fire mages will begin to lose life.
For arcane, most of the cooldowns will revolve around gaining back mana, and the arcane game becomes a question of when you should use those cooldowns. Does it put out more dps to use them near the beginning of the fight and keep your mana near the top, then let it drop down low and then blowing them all to get back to the top? Do you keep your mana around the middle of the bar to keep a steady dps count? Do you pass up haste at times and not cast all the time so that cooldowns can keep your bar at the top all the time?
Looks like great fun, and should take away the faceroll reputation that arcane has gained over the expansion. Can't wait for 4.0!
Mar 20th 2010 1:06PM I hope that we get a fight with Deathwing in the old school video game thought of taking him down in parts, since he's so massive. Say, for phase 1 the goal is to take down the HP on both of his feet, and he then kind of trips or tumbles or something and the raid must run up his leg and onto on his back, at which point he takes off flying. At that point, the raid gets the joy of dodging volcanoes, fire effects, you name it, plus island hopping with the metal plates on Deathwing's back moving. Fall into lava, you die. The objective here is to pull the HP on his wings all the way down, which causes him to crash to earth, where the raid gets a certain amount of time to dps his head (which is his overall hp, when the head dies, you win) before starting over with phase 1 again.
I should probably get out more...
Mar 3rd 2010 11:04PM Sounds great!
Also, the music for the event is in the files and can be found on Youtube. Hats off the music team, they managed to take a quirky theme and make it feel like an epic battle, but some parts make you feel progress, ya know? Just listening to the theme makes me feel like the story is beginning to move forward.
Feb 20th 2010 8:22PM Some think that the Inigo reference means that he's actual Kel'thuzad's son. Pretty interesting stuff.
