Nov 18th 2011 2:13PM That's fine, I didn't say he's a bad opera singer, I said it doesn't work in a pop song. I'm sure he'd kill Time to Say Goodbye by Andrea Bocelli - but this was a train wreck. There is no such thing as a "good voice". There's only good voices for certain genres. Joe Cocker transformed a Beatles song in to one of the most soulful and recognizable tunes in the world, but he could never (and I do mean never) consider trying to be a Broadway singer. He would go from genius to useless.
My point? I'm not dogging his ability to sing opera, I'm saying it doesn't work in pop.
