Breakfast Topic: Do you like PvP? {WoW}

Apr 3rd 2012 8:49AM Not a fan of PVP. Could even say that in WOW I actually hate it. I've found it playable atleast in other MMOs, but I still tend to dislike it quite a bit. The reasons...

-Balance...it seems impossible for PVP to truely be balanced. No matter what happens, one class or classes, will have a noticable edge, leaving others to either try and make up for that edge with their class, or re-roll a toon that is better in PVP.

-Players...going into a battle ground and having someone screaming "YOU ALL SUCZZZZ" because things aren't going our way after a whopping 2mins, is annoying and depressing for those of us who have to work up interest in PVP to begin with. Yes, theres always the /ignore, but you shouldn't have to use it every battleground.

-The effect it has on PVE...This BY FAR, is the biggest reason I hate PVP...when I first started playing WOW, my favorite class was Ret Pally. It was fun to play, fun to level, and I loved the class. Then one day I come on to play after a major patch, and my toon couldn't fight its way through a wet napkin. So I hit the message boards to find out whats going on, that leads me to the patch notes, and that leads me to the first time I ever heard the word "nerf" in WOW. Essentially, my favorite class was destroyed for the sole reason that it was too over powered in PVP. PVP...something (at that point) that I had never even tried, or cared about.

The obvious question I had was why not just "nerf" the class while in PVP instead of destroying it for everyone. And the answer seemed to indicate that its 'easier' just to hit the class, rather than go through the effort to make it work differently in PVP. In other words...lazyness.

This pattern of course, has been repeated over and over and over in WOW. As primarily PVE players lose abilities, power, playability of their toons, for something that they really don't care about...

...frickin' PVP.

Breakfast Topic: How would you redesign the old character models? {WoW}

Mar 29th 2012 8:47AM Ever since I've seen the female pandaren model, I've been left with one thought. And maybe I've missed the answer to this since I've been away from WOW since like December. But...

Whats with the long tail???

Pandas don't have long tails...lol Did the Panderen get busy with a fox along the genetic lines or something.

Really like the Pandaren female model(love the hair and emotes)...until they turn around and look like Tails from Sonic.

Is this a Game Master in the Armory? {WoW}

Jan 17th 2012 8:33AM I gotta say, even for the wow nerd community, getting this excited over things like seeing a GM or catching a glimps of one in passing, or thinking you see GM island on the map etc...this is over the top...even for us nerds...lol

Okay, lets say this was a GM that somehow accidentally got into the armory...

The Queue: My heat still isn't fixed {WoW}

Jan 6th 2012 11:13AM Is anyone else not really feeling this 'all is well, its the age of mortals' thing? Don't get me wrong, I loved the final cinematic and all, but it seems like they are putting a ribon on something that is ready for it yet.

After all, what we did for this whole expansion is nothing but take down 1 lacky of 1 old god. I mean, they're still there, right under our feet, locked in the planet... Did they sign off on this whole, 'its the time of mortals'. Are they just gonna chill out while the main theme (apparently) of MoP is for the Horde and Alliance to fight it out?

Guess I'm just confused as to where we're going with the story(if you can call it that after playing real stories in swtor) of WoW. Like if there is going to be a big bad in MoP, just not on the box, how do they fit that in with an expansion focused on mortals and mortal affairs. And how do you fit in instances and Raids in the WoW universe, without some 30ft tall walking monster/elemental/god/etc...

Maybe I'm taking too much away from that final cinematic.

Breakfast Topic: Would you mind moving for second? {WoW}

Jan 6th 2012 8:34AM Truthfully, the majority of unnecessary movement is from the tank. For some reason tanks decide to go PvP on a boss and run circles around them. Or because they are so super powered (atleast in their mind) they pull, then run off down the next hall, drAgging the mobs with them. Both cases force dps to move for no good reason. This is especially tough on melee and Rogues in particular.

But don't even get me started on escort quest… If they're so ready for us to 'get them outta here', then why are 99% of them stuck on /walk. >_>

Big stakes and the end of an expansion {WoW}

Dec 29th 2011 12:27AM I have to disagreee with the "going out big" thing. Did I miss something, or did we just spend an entire expansion taking out what in the end, was nothing more than a pawn of the Old Gods.

You remember them right...

The ones that we fight..but mostly never really see. Deathwing for all is power and fury was nothing more than a expendable resorce. He's dead...so what. Its the "age of mortals"...did those Old Gods suddenly give up their pursuit of chaos and destruction...

Can fighting between the Horde and Allaince really carry the whole next expansion without a 'big bad' that takes an entire expansion to get to, let alone actually kill.

We'll see. But offing the crazed, manipulated lacky of the "real" bad guys, (a lacky that we hardly ever saw then entire expansion) doesn't really strike me as "going out big"

Know Your Lore: Wrathion the Purified {WoW}

Dec 18th 2011 10:36PM The quest string seems awesome.

Again its a damn shame that blizz has decided that only that small 1% (or less) of us in dedicated raid guilds, even gets a shot at doing the quest string. But if there is one thing that Blizz wanted to enforce in a BIG way during Cata, its that guilds are no longer a choice..

...but a neccesity. And not just for end game content. But for the "perks" that EVERY player in the game considers essentials.

Guess eventually enough, non Raid Finder, PUGS will for to let people at least start the quest. But for as cool as all this seems, it wouldn't have hurt Blizz to at least allow Rogues to start it in Raid Finder.

Bottom line, there needs to be more class specific quest strings like this in the game. And not ones that are tied into forcing players to pick between their fun or family guilds or joining a Raiding guild just to have a shot at a fun quest string.

Blizzard has went through great efforts to speed leveling through the BC and Wrath content. Dropping XP needed to level, nerfing overworld bosses, etc... So while helping my wife level one of her toons, a question struck me.

One of THE slowest things about questing is collection quest. And as we all know, the worst of those are the ones with low drop rates. So if Blizzard really wants to speed up leveling through the lower zones, why not improve the drop rates or reduce the number of items to be collected, on some of these ridiculous quest? Particularly the ones in the BC content.
