Jun 6th 2011 5:17PM Well, if the majority votes for him (it?) then it must be what the people want... Definitely a mistake, but it's not like they can't fix it if they really wanted to. I'm curious to see how it will play out. And it is funny.

Dev Watercooler: Cataclysm talent tree post-mortem {WoW}

Jun 1st 2011 2:20PM Honestly depends on the spec. For some it's great, others it's not great.

Dev Watercooler: Cataclysm talent tree post-mortem {WoW}

Jun 1st 2011 2:20PM I'm not saying that because of this tax that Hybrids will always be lower than Pure DPS, I know that many Hybrids can do extremely well in terms of DPS. But the fact that the tax still exists, effective or otherwise, is what irks me.

Dev Watercooler: Cataclysm talent tree post-mortem {WoW}

Jun 1st 2011 1:46PM So if there are relatively no more Hybrid specs, but there are Hybrid classes, why is there a Hybrid tax? Sure, as an Ele Shammy I can heal, you know if I ever feeling like watching my mana bar disappear, while having incredibly little overall impact on the outcome of a fight. But should I pay the price of lower DPS for that little healing capability?

I really enjoy raiding and love my guild, but I know whatever super awesome hybrid special abilities I bring, they don't make up for the DPS difference between myself and our Hunter or Rogue. We're all similarly geared so it's not like I'm not ready or anything, and I've been raiding since BC so I think I know what I'm doing. Usually a tax is paid for a service, but I don't think whatever I'm getting from this payment is enough to warrant it.

Also, just because I can switch to a healing spec if needed doesn't warrant a tax. No class is more or less useful, the world needs its healers, tanks, and DPS. I shouldn't be punished for playing a class how i want to play. This ability to have a spec of another role is convenient, but that's it for me. I raid as a DPS, if my raid wants me to heal in situations where we lack one of our usual healers I will do so if I can manage. But I will not heal just because I'm a Shaman and it's a hybrid class, so why pay a tax for something I don't do?

The system is flawed to me. The only reason I can see Blizz continuing with it would be the fact that pure DPS classes might not like being on par with everyone else. But to that I have to say you're playing your class for the wrong reason. If you play your class for it's high DPS then I don't know what to say. I play my Shaman because I love being a Shaman, even if this ridiculous tax continues I'll still love it and I'll still play.
