Mar 21st 2012 8:39PM Yup, got into the beta here on the first wave. Helps that I've been a WoW player since four (less?) days after the game was released. I have downloaded the client, but as the article states above, it still isn't able to download anything to my computer.
Should be fun!
Jan 20th 2012 8:06PM I think your calculations overestimated the effect of bountiful bags. According to wowhead...
1 loot: 85.0000%
2 loots: 12.7500%**
3 loots: 1.9125%
4 loots: ~0.2869%
5 loots: ~0.0430%
By my math, on 100 disenchants this would result in just over 117 maelstrom crystals. So basically, a 17% increase, not 20%.
Jan 16th 2012 8:23PM I would have done things a bit different and gone with late vanilla materials as a way of figuring out the cost of leveling up materials. Illusion dust, thorium ore, thick leather, etc.
I agree with the idea of adding a material for the seafood feasts.
The "big ticket" items that someone suggests (ie; mounts) as highly subject to variation due to their exceedingly low supply. Only things like Vial of the Sands or the motorcycle mount are things everyone can use and are readily present. Since they're "luxuries" they wouldn't be as ideal for a CPI like the one you're building.
I do like that you're using the Queen's Garnet instead of Inferno Rubies, as 4.4 will likely add the transmute recipes (and perhaps make them prospectable?) thereby increasing supply and making them much more of a standard. For now though they'll be quite high priced indeed.
Dec 15th 2011 12:44PM Christmas is a time forgetting. For getting presents from other people, and forgetting to give people presents.
Sep 14th 2011 8:31PM Other bosses in SSC are soloable. I haven't tried Hydross, but I have solo'ed the Lurker Below (hint: ignore the naga archers). I also solo'ed Leotheras the Blind, the demon hunter boss. Fun fight.
I have not tried Morgrim Tidewalker, but I believe that is soloable as well. The fight with the 4 Nagas (1 of which gets powers from the others as they die) is not soloable by a discipline priest. And I don't believe Vashj is soloable by anyone because of encounter design.
In Tempest Keep you can solo Al'ar the Phoenix. Void Reaver is not solo'able because of his AoE silence effect, and the warlock boss (whose name eludes me) is not solo'able because discipline priests have no interupts and cannot outdps the healing from the adds.
May 20th 2010 1:08PM I thought I remember reading that Blizzard was planning on allowing BoA +experience items during the goblin/worgen leveling process, but in exchange they would not be eligible for the "first goblin/worgen to reach level 80" feat of strength. Dunno what'll actually be implemented in the end though.
Alternately, they might simply not add the goblin/worgen racial requirements to the +experience BoA items so they can't be used. Initially, at least.
Apr 15th 2010 5:35PM I would definitely not pay $25 for a virtual mount that I'd never ride. But I would leave a comment so I could win one for free.
Mar 23rd 2010 10:41PM Yah, I've been stuck on the loading screen a couple of times as well. Not sure if it's a patch issue or just a random issue with their servers. Either way, just cancel the process in the computer and restart WoW. I usually get in the second time just fine.
Nov 22nd 2009 11:44PM Your article missed one extremely important point. Prayer of Mending makes up a significant amount of the healing that holy priests do. But if there are two holy priests in a raid, the one with the higher spellpower will frequently overwrite the other's spell. The end result is a significant drop in the amount of healing that the other priest takes.
Also, if you're using a mod such as recount, know that the number of "casts" for prayer of mending that the mod keeps track of is actually the number of times that a player takes damage and the spell procs. So if you're in a raid with another holy priest, check his vs. your prayer of mending procs at the end of the fight. You'll often notice that the difference in the number of procs would have made the "less performing" healing actually heal more had his spellpower been high enough as not to be overwritten.
I've seen many a good holy priest get bounced out of guilds by foolish raid leaders for "low healing" because of this issue.
