Official forum changes, real life names to be displayed {WoW}

Jul 6th 2010 1:22PM So lemme ask you something, who do you blame if somebody wins some loot in their guild fair and square by the agreed terms of the guild and "that other guy" is pissed about it? Even more important, what if that other guy has severe mental problems that are both obsessive, and violent. Maybe he even has anger problems and lives alone. If you end up dead because that asshole KILLED YOU over something as silly as loot because he found your name on the forums and figured out where you live, who is to blame? Not the trolls, thats for sure.

The Daily Quest: A little too real for me {WoW}

Jun 24th 2010 8:39AM Dear Blizzard,

There's this wonderful thing called steam. It's been around forever and happens to be the exact same thing your attempting to mirror. However steam uses a "Steam User Name" as opposed to an email address for players to identify each other. This comes with a wonderful feature that allows you to hide your online activity......Like any other sensible community service. Another wonderful thing is that you're able to purchase a vast number of games on it that aren't even valve games! also with this comes the creation of community groups through which players can invite the people they play with into for easy access group play. Most importantly it functions OUTSIDE of games as well as within them.

JEEZ. Though you guys were good at taking good ideas and making them better.

PS. Tell Bobby Kotick to stop pushing for crap that nobody is asking for.

Jay Mohr confirmed for BlizzCon 2010 {WoW}

May 22nd 2010 2:51PM I have to admit that Jay's pacing and organization could be better. However I also have to say that every year, there's a huge lack of willingness on behalf of the audience to WANT to enjoy the comedy section. I's like watching a weeaboo listen too a song they really like in public; they're emotionless and too afraid to show their excited.

Last year jay did a pretty safe and standard practice in the routine of hosting where you name off some of the cool events that are going to be going on to get the audience pumped. From the very first event he named there was no cheering or anything. It was as though the audience had no concept of "getting pumped"

Both parties should improve

WoW Armory Remote Auction House beta is live {WoW}

May 19th 2010 9:12AM This actually bothers me terribly. While this is cool and handy, it's also the first paid service offered in WOW that affects the game. pets, mounts, tabards, toys? doesn't bother anyone. But being able to make AH transactions from anywhere? you bet your ass it does!

Why is this a problem? It's a problem for the same reason that blizzard thinks that buying gold or botting is a problem. Buying gold and botting are things from outside WOW that can impact gameplay from pve and pve to the AH. when gold becomes available by means that others cannot obtain then it creates an unfair advantage. Now my focus in this concern is not soo much having an Iphone as it is the xtra payment, however the Iphone factor is HUGE! It's bad enough that mods and 3rd party programs such as vent are pretty much required to be competitive in pve pvp and AH wow atm. But now this new (semi3rdpartybutnotreallyfuckyou) variable has been added and you have to pay for it.

My primary concern here is that in the AH game, Timing is everything. Now i'm fully aware that anyone can choose to sit at their computer all day and play wow to get ahead of the game. But now anyone who doesn't have the time, and in exchange for that loss of time, an Iphone, the AH master will simply reign supreme. This is really only an issue because it offers a new opportunity to certain players and not others, specifically those without said fancy phones. "but you could use a laptop anywhere there's a phone dummy!"--wrong.

All those places you once could not play wow at: Work, Bathroom, In the line for your favorite roller coaster, Pap Pap's funeral, On your favorite roller coaster (wtf is wrong with you anyways), and even in the car driving(again wtf man?) are now mere pebbles left in the wake of your conquest to control the AH. All because you happen to own an Iphone or at least a phone with some sort of touch screen. Meanwhile the rest of us envy you from the back of Pap Pap's funeral vigorously because you've gained an ADVANTAGE. "poop" all us second cousins, twice removed say!

Point number 2
so how long till I can Q up for BG's and wiggle my fingers just enough to get into combat successfully and avoid kicking from afk while I work and therefore gain honor more conveniently than everyone else? Shut up (insert smartass responder), I know know that wouldn't be terribly effective, I'm trying to make a point, didn't you see the top of this paragraph?! jeez. Anyways, being able to pay for easier access to WOW IS something that impacts fairness in the game, especially with the AH. I mean you might as well be selling the player all the AH gold he makes over his iphone to him for 2.99 a month. You figure someone who plays the game for the AH will make somewhere between 80%-90% over their Iphone simply because of the accessibility. So in theory, 3.99 a month = around 85% is the gold you generally make.

..Fuck that's awesome. Oh god, I think I want to get an Iphone............and deposit 5 dollars into my checking account.

Cataclysm profession preview {WoW}

May 12th 2010 12:48PM I really wanted them to do something much more interesting with skinning, mining and herbalism. At the moment the fact of the matter is that if you want to be competitive with others you simply MUST have two crafting professions. Currently the more popular combo for melee dps is JC LW or JC Ench or JC BS.. pretty much JC - anything really.

I look at this problem the same way that Blizzard is looking at the raiding game atm, which is to say that they don't want people to feel obligated to run both 10 and 25 to be up to par. Likewise I'm sure people don't want to feel obligated to have TWO crafting professions to stay at the par of competitive dps. I like having 1 crafting profession and a gathering profession, It changes up the way my time spent working on professions is experienced between the two. Personally I'm not a huge AH worker, I hate the interface for mods like Auctioneer(actually its more that I never feel like learning all the little doo dads) and blizz's ui still isn't very fluid. And everyone knows you pretty much have to be if you're going to have two crafting professions.

I suppose being on the competitive level in any activity in wow has always come down to just putting up with the cookie-cutter spec, talent, professions, mods and what have you. But I gotta ask why must it be so?

Submit your own Breakfast Topic {WoW}

Apr 24th 2010 3:13PM I just got done watching the WoTL cinematic from boredom and I thought to myself, " What will the cataclysm cinematic be like?" Will we finally see a gnome? 0_o Will any cinematic trailer be near the Epicness of wotlk's? (I feel like the story far surpasses that of BC's and I can't imagine our hearts being tugged at for the cataclysm plot like Arthas' story has) How much money would you put down on a goblin blowing up something only to hurt himself a little bit and then laugh at it?

I think it's a worthy topic )

Breakfast Topic: Who gets to grow up? {WoW}

Apr 16th 2010 2:16PM All I'm saying here is that if blizzard put two platters in front of me and 1 was new player character models and the other was some pet or mount I would go with the new earlier especially considering that I'd have to pay for the later. I'm also fairly sure that the larger half of the wow community would also feel that way.

I'm fully aware of how marketing and consumer/carrier relationships work. But no single person can deny that time spent making models for the blizzard store is time that could be spent so that blue posts wouldn't read "we'll see, we will try to get new models in there."

Not saying blizzard owes me this or owes me that, just disappointed is all.

Breakfast Topic: Who gets to grow up? {WoW}

Apr 16th 2010 10:32AM @Daedalus

And neither do you. But hey lets be in support of making new models for things we'll never buy all while the models I look at everyday continue to cower in comparison to new PET models. Heck why should I have a reason to be bugged right? I mean blizz could be making counter series to rockband and guitar hero because we all want that right?

Breakfast Topic: Who gets to grow up? {WoW}

Apr 16th 2010 9:57AM Tree and Moonkin visuals my friend. I don't even play a druid and I want that for them.

Breakfast Topic: Who gets to grow up? {WoW}

Apr 16th 2010 8:50AM I LOVE how blizzard says they they don't know if they'll be able to make new character models for players as well as upgrade things like druid forms but they have all the time in the world to make mount models and pets for the Blizzard pet store.

Just very upsetting if you ask me.
