Feb 17th 2012 9:10PM @Stall So did Planetside, for that matter. Though I guess everyone has ranged attacks there.
Still, that's fine. I'm fine with self-rooting in PvP. But TERA's PvE is supposed to be all about constant movement and position and evasion....self-rooting while fighting BAMs is pointless. I would rather the game lack PvP entirely (or have horribly imbalanced PvP) than self-rooting with BAM fights.
Feb 17th 2012 9:06PM @Stall Battlefield 3 seems to do it without much of a problem...
Feb 17th 2012 3:53PM I was sorta disappointed at the combat. It was a bit more engaging than something like WoW, but I generally had to stand still to use my abilities.
This gave it a somewhat stilted feel....I would stand still, hit or cast something, then sidestep to avoid their slow and ponderous counterattacked. Then I would stand still again, hit or cast something, then sidestep, etc. etc.
Possibly I was just doing it wrong?

Yeah. I'm mildly concerned, however, that they'll have a great beta and then lose a court case and never be allowed to release the game.
Feb 9th 2012 9:16PM @OrangeGamer In theory, I believe you should be able to access the beta test weekends as long as you pre-order the game.
"Pre-Order Benefits: ... Early access to beta test ..."
Feb 9th 2012 7:16PM 17 GB? What takes up that much space? Absurd quantities of art and sound assets?
(Honest question, I don't know much about game design, except that the code base itself generally is tiny when we're talking in terms of gigabytes.)
Feb 9th 2012 7:15PM @GreatWolfFenris
Seriously. At this rate, it will be down to "just" 5 million people by....*does a little math*....2025!
Hopefully they'll have done a graphical update by then.
Feb 7th 2012 12:48AM Similar thing happen with Bioware and SWTOR physical pre-orders.
if you bought the game through a third-party seller, sometimes you had to wait quite a while for the code that let you set your account as a pre-order account (and thus get some beta access and create pre-launch guilds and the like). And up until the last minute it looked like physical third-party preorders wouldn't be able to play during headstart.
It's not just En Masse...everyone goes through logistical problems at this point.
Feb 6th 2012 8:58PM Well, Diablo III was announced 4 years ago, right? And probably in development for 2 years before that (it's been 12 years since Diablo II was released, after all).
That's a really long time to spend on a non-MMO. I wouldn't be surprised to see them start scrapping a few more features in hopes of getting it out the door sometime in the next year..
Feb 1st 2012 5:48PM That's a lot more than I'd guessed. I was thinking maybe 1 million would actually subscribe.
Big question is whether they can grow from here!
