Patch 3.3 PTR: More Warlock changes {WoW}
Oct 21st 2009 9:25PM I like where the new MC is going, i.e. away from totally pants, but the Immolate addition to the talent is not ideal.
I understand that it is probably to try and make up for the loss of damage we may have got on Immo before, however I think it is going to make things more troublesome.
Currently in my Demonology rotation the fact that Immolation and Corruption end at similar times allows me to use a smooth rotation, usually life tapping just prior to re-application.
The new change means that these two spells will nw no longer be of the same length, causing my rotation most likely to become more jerky and potentially awkward. This will probably will only be made worse by Glyph of quick decay.
So yeah, I like it, could still be much better though.
Patch 3.3 PTR: Warlock pets bite back {WoW}
Oct 9th 2009 6:36AM I had a chance to test out the new decimation on the PTR (at the Argent Tournament dummies ofc) and it is simply amazing.
An easy 7k DPS without consumables whilst in execute range, I very much look forward to trying this whilst raid buffed.
Bring on 3.3!
Blood Pact: The hidden power of demonology {WoW}
Oct 5th 2009 7:26PM You definitely covered it, and maybe I somewhat glossed over the 'downsides' when reading that section.
I think that is the thing about that spec though, you get the satisfaction of knowing you're really making a difference to the raid, and even if you don't quite make it on the meters you know that if you got close then you damn well deserved it for playing well.
I guess I just thought most people would see the good things the spec can bring and become blind to some of the hardships that may await them.
But fair-cop I'll try to, ensuring I don't jump at the first thing I disagree with, read more carefully.
:P
Blood Pact: The hidden power of demonology {WoW}
Oct 5th 2009 6:04PM Loving the columns Dom, and being a devout Demonology Warlock I was eager to read this one :P
However when you say the difference between Destro and Demo accounted to 450 DPS on average, I'm not too sure I agree.
There are several situations (though not too common) such as the Twin Val'Kyr in Trial of the Crusader that result in very different numbers. Most 'normal' fights I'd say the biggest I've seen is a 1k difference with the biggest being 12k on Hodir (My dastardly brother playing a Mage scoffing at my 7k D:).
Granted that this primarily comes down to scaling (Which I asked about at the Q&A panel at Blizzcon :D) and is supposedly going to be rectified, and in my own case probably that I find myself having to use COE far too often, but there is a sizeable gap.
TLDR; the gap of 450 DPS between Demo and Destro is likely to be higher in real life play as that number is modelled on 'ideal' scenarios.
Again great article though!
