Feb 10th 2012 12:07AM Of the raiding achievements I've done, Do A Barrel Roll truly makes the list of PURE EVIL. Our 25-man group eventually divided into 10-mans, and even then it took hours of trying. There was -always- one who would hit a tornado as they spawned.
Patience wears thin and the urge to scream at your raid members gets higher every passing minute, when yet another "failed, wipe it" echoes through mumble...
Feb 7th 2012 1:25AM The learning process for Hagara's hard mode (25) was the first time during Cataclysm when I ignored my potions of Tol'vir in favour of the Mystical Healing. First lightning phase - healthstone and Mirror of Broken Images. Second Lightning phase - health pot and Mirror. Third lightning phase... Mirror, pray the healers remember the poor hunter trying to stay alive, and try to squeeze a tick or two of bandages between damage.
A few weeks of being the first corpse on the floor and described as "the weak link" because I had no survival cooldowns of my own (this was before the deterrence buff and boss nerf) really made me wish the healing pots could be used like healthstones. Just without the "unique" tag to make it possible to carry a stack, instead of just one.
Feb 7th 2012 1:04AM A small addition: what's up with the epic JC patterns, anyway? If you make the terrible, terrible mistake of touching the 4-daily-tokens costing Tome of Burning Jewels, you can learn to cut such random and useful things as Wicked Lava Coral (25 expertise/25 haste), Balanced Elven Peridot (25 hit/25 resilience), Energized Elven Peridot (25 haste/25 spirit), Infused Elven Peridot (32 spell pen/25 mastery), Misty Elven Peridot (25 spirit/25 crit)...
These cuts don't have equivalents in the lower Ctaclysm tiers. A good many of them don't have equivalents in wrath cuts, either. Where did they pull these off from, TBC?
It really isn't fun to spend 4 days worth of dailies on a cut that is to all intents and purposes -completely useless-. I learned my lesson fast and now pay up those 5 tokens to get a guaranteed useful cut.. but I really wish the option wasn't quite so stuffed with these mines.
Feb 3rd 2012 5:47AM I've loved Marks just for the need to plan out ahead. Even though I recently went survival (when my raid dies to berserk timer on hardmode practice, I will do anything to squeeze out a few thousand more, even if it is by playing a spec I don't prefer), I find myself planning around double cobra shots. It'll take some more target dummy time to drive -that- practice off my muscle memory.
I admit the double steady can be a right pain to plan around, but personally, I liked it. At least up until T13 started drowning me in focus >.>
Feb 3rd 2012 5:29AM I could swear that the prot pally in TB yesterday had Vengeance on for a few moments before he fell over - now I know I wasn't imagining things. Not that I care so much, though, this is what I have tranq shot for. (Although I do feel the pain of the teams who see this in arena, if it pops up there too, and don't have means to remove it.)
But it is nice to know that an occasional vengeance on someone I glance at in pvp is not my eyes deceiving me. :P
Oct 26th 2011 10:22AM Samskeyti alerted me to the spawns of Madexx and Ahnka, and got me hooked on taming all the rare beasts I see - and has infinite patience for the noobiest of hunters repeatedly dying while taming the challenges. If there ever is someone deserving of all the good karma in WoW, it's Sams :)
Sep 11th 2011 12:35PM @Calaana; if you mean the old lvl60 epic class quest that rewarded an epic bow, it has been removed in Cataclysm.
Much the pity; Rhok'delar is an awesome bow, and the quest chain was definetly worth doing. Two of my hunters have the bow and quiver (now bag). Nowadays the closest you can get to the feel of that quest is going after the taming challenges at Hyjal.
There might be something around lvl50 now, I hear there's a few class quests that got added to the game.
May 11th 2011 10:44AM For Ripsnarl, the new "assist stance" should work fairly well. But the pvp hunter in me cries a bit, since many have been the times when I've been sitting on a flare with my aggressive pet, to see it take after a stealthed rogue before I had a chance of spotting it...
Apr 14th 2011 11:27PM Tidyplates: threatplates will do what you want, in an awesome manner. For myself, I whitelisted every CC I could think of, and now I see the durations and icons of those spesific debuffs above the nameplates. It's very handy to be able to see exactly how long is left on not only your own trap, but also on whatever else your group might have up at a given moment :)
Apr 12th 2011 1:13PM @Grak; hunters can also opt for the third possibility - get roaring drunk!
Go to the Grim Guzzler in Blackrock Depths (Direbrew's Remote makes this fast). Buy a few stacks of Sulfuron Slammer. Hotkey the drinks. Then just as Ozruk gives his line about "feel the strength of the EARTH" and Ground Slams, take a drink.
You get a DoT, don't have to be a melee hunter, healers don't have to stress about the possible 50k damage - and you all can have a laugh at the drunk dps! This is by far my favourite method :)
