Mar 25th 2012 2:05PM The cathedral and cathedral square tend to attract... strange types. Same with taverns. Some of my best RP has been in taverns and the Cathedral, but you're going to see a lot of weirdos if that's the only place you hang out!
Mar 24th 2012 3:08PM Wyrmrest Accord and Moon Guard are the two big ones, though the RP on both is mostly in cities/taverns.
Mar 24th 2012 2:36PM THANK YOU.
I love reading Warcraftsues as much as the next guy, but I tend not to participate unless the flag shown is someone who refuses advice/critique or an obvious public ERPer.
I think that the RP environment is incredibly toxic, horribly bigoted and very, VERY snobby. It's scaring away new roleplayers and even some veterans who don't like the atmosphere. I swear to god, the phrases "special snowflake" and "mary sue" are thrown around like confetti. Anyone who wants to play something a bit out of the ordinary but still lore adhering gets labelled with one of those because they don't feel like playing peppy engineer gnome #206 or snobby blood elf #6190.
I've had to put several OOC tags in my RP history for my troll character who I roleplay as a defector from the Sandfury just because I know people are going to flip out and mark me as a lore-hating demon child. I play her as a sand troll to explore several ideas: the plight of the dungeon mob (many of her friends/family were slain by Horde adventurers), the desperation of having to work alongside those who were once your enemies, and the acclimation into the Horde of a former enemy and the steps she has to take to prove herself. She KNOWS she's not going to get a good reaction being in Horde cities, but she's too stubborn to care.
I don't play her because I want to be super speshul mary sue who shoots rainbows out of her eyes and has demon blood and is Illidan and Vol'jin's lovechild. I play her because that's the kind of character I want to her to be, and the kind of reactions I want to get, and the kind of roleplay I want to start.
Mar 24th 2012 1:52PM One of my naming conventions is Japanese Pokemon names - my Pandaren priest will be Neiti (Natu), and my Orcish Monk will be Jupetta (Banette).
Mar 23rd 2012 9:53PM I had a friend who I RAF'd with whose time ran out before March 4th, and I decided to SoR him. Since RAF was still active on his account, I decided to see if his level 80 character could grant my toons levels for shits and giggles, and it worked O_O. Is this Working As Intended or a bug?
Mar 23rd 2012 9:52PM Happened to me too. Pain in the ass...
Mar 23rd 2012 7:07PM I met my boyfriend on OkC! He plays WoW on and off now - his character is a goblin hunter who builds evil robots masters named Dr. Willy Crabhammer (we're on a RP server) :D
Mar 13th 2012 8:10AM After I put my two bits in for Warlock as the class I wouldn't level, I SoR'd myself, raised a lock to level 80, and suddenly fell in love with it.
I think a lot of the lock hate might be that they're horribly boring at low levels and you get a lot of the things you need too late. For example, Destro gets its main nuke at level 64. Kind of ridiculous if you ask me.
Mar 12th 2012 6:09PM If it just me, or are more than 50% of the videos on Moviewatch by WoWCrendor?
But seriously, this one was great. Got a good laugh out of it.
Mar 7th 2012 8:28AM Warlock. Made it to level 30 with RAF, found the class horribly boring. Waiting until MoP comes out to try again.
