Patch 3.0.8 bug roundup {WoW}

Jan 21st 2009 9:04AM Hi, MattJ--no trinkets were involved in the testing of this product. ;-)

Seriously, this was on trash pulls and I had nothing proc, no trinket, no surge of light, no clearcasting, nada.

Jan 21st 2009 1:10AM Can't case Renew over my own Renew (when there's like, .1 second less) -- "A more powerful spell is already active."

Arcane Blast is showing up as a dispellable debuff again, yay.

Had fun raiding tonight with most of the mages trying out arcane and half my newer priests blithely dispelling their AB stacks.

Why healing meters suck {WoW}

Jan 9th 2009 11:50AM Why is there an automatic assumption that using heal meters will encourage healers to stop being effective and start competing to be top on the heal meter? Are the people you heal with just that egotistical?

I use heal meters religiously to see where to best place my healers in assignments. If someone has low latency, I'm not assigning them MT/OT positions; they're raid healing or backup to the MT/OT (ie Patchwerk Hateful Healer). If someone has low overall healing but is glyphed and spec'd for HoTs, I communicate to the flash spamming pallys and priests to let the HoTter do his job and not override his HoTs when someone is at 80% and not taking consistent damage.

My raid leader never looks at the healing meters. He's got me to do that. My healers don't rank themselves on the HPS or the Overall; they race to see who has the most dispels or how many HoTs we can stack on someone. They take more pride in a job well done than in a chart.

Create the climate in which you want your healers to thrive, and use the meters like gardening tools. Don't discount their use just because you can't effectively use them.

Arcane Brilliance: The wonders of Frostfire {WoW}

Dec 8th 2008 11:36AM Hey, definition 6 is new to me! No wonder you were so upset. It took me a minute to figure it out since you said you like dirty jokes, cursing, and being politically incorrect. I was thinking of the way some of our more exuberant members of the gaming community celebrate a victory over other players. But then I followed your link and boy, I gotta admit... Number 6 really blew me away (no pun intended).

Thank you SO much for linking that definition and informing the community at large of the dangers lurking in our china cabinets. You're absolutely right, that act is TOTALLY unsafe and possibly unsanitary, and we really need to impress upon our children that masturbating with ceramic teapots is a NO NO. Curse, tell nasty mysogynistic jokes, and be a bigoted racist sexist pig all you like, but never EVER use a porous material for funtime.

I for one applaud your efforts, and wish you a morally superior day.

Nov 12th 2008 11:17AM Why do some people insist on acting like Blizzard did this to them maliciously and purposefully? Yes, it's frustrating, but do y0u honestly think they're NOT trying to resolve the issue? What's the point of acting as if this nameless corporation isn't made of people who really want to do a good job and deliver a quality product? I just don't get it.

Yes, it's a mess and I'm disappointed. But it's not personal, and I'm a bit taken aback by all the people who seem to think it's a deliberate attempt at robbery and oppression.

Just... wow.
