Feb 29th 2012 9:05PM I know I responded directly to an above comment, but I feel like this deserves addressing on its own. Defense is not usually a good strategy. Don't get me wrong, if you have 3 and D, then you have the point lead, but that does not necessarily mean you have the lead. Say you're doing EOTS or AB and you're going for a 3 and D strategy, that leaves 5 people at each node with a potential for 15 attackers. A small group of 2-3 players staying on the offensive despite a lead is absolutely critical because it keeps defenders at the opposing teams bases instead of assaulting yours. With 2-3 defenders per node, you will typically have plenty of time to call incs and save face on any large attacking forces.
Also, I want to throw a huge bolded, and underlined support for telling healers not to play defense.
Feb 29th 2012 8:59PM I have to totally agree with this comment. As a mage, I have spent plenty of games chain ccing healers on roads so that they cannot be helping their teammates. Sure, I can't kill them, and I know this, but they're more likely to tunnel vision and try to kill me than run off and be productive. -1 healer is a significantly larger disadvantage than -1 DPS especially in 10v10 games. And again, a great tactic for mages is to not bother with obsessing over kills / damage, but to focus on kiting. If you can effectively get 2-3 of the enemy team to chase you around the map trying to kill you rather than focusing on objectives, that is 2-3 people not attacking your nodes, and not defending their own.
Nov 30th 2011 8:32AM Your blurb about warlocks having more survivability than mages was a bit off - you're forgetting the inevitable drain on healer mana that is lifetap. At best, all of that passive healing most likely just tops off their mana for an entire encounter without needing a healer.
