Oct 30th 2010 11:52AM very disappointed to hear it went to FB.

Microsoft Security Essentials now offered via Windows Update {Download Squad}

Oct 28th 2010 9:38AM It always bothered me that Silverlight kept showing up in optional installs even though I would check "don't ever show again".

Oct 27th 2010 10:47AM Any idea as to what versions are showing up for corp and edu licensing? I have only been able to find a listing of "Standard" so far, and that doesn't match up to the two versions I am seeing on the microsoft website.

After iLife '11 analysis: Uncertain future for iWeb, no future for iDVD {TUAW.com}

Oct 21st 2010 12:00PM iDVD is great for when you need a traveling presentation and you have no idea what to expect as far as networking goes. I can't tell you how many times I have been stuck in some antiquated presentation gallery with only a TV/slide projector hooked up to a DVD player or some antique PC.

iDVD is also handy for sending pics of the kids to older relatives that aren't hip to that new interweb thing.

Google Apps for Education: over 10 million users in just 4 years {Download Squad}

Oct 14th 2010 4:20PM It would be interesting to see the breakdown of students vs staff/faculty. My guess is a lot more are student accounts. Some universities will allow it for their "non-secure" student email systems, but do not allow GMail (or other hosted mail services) for staff/faculty.

Oct 13th 2010 5:50PM I really wish companies would drop the Year Names from their products. Give me a regular version number any day.

Sep 22nd 2010 9:00AM Weird seeing a game that is not Mac compatible (at least the last time I checked) using Apple tech.

CNET finally pulls the plug on VersionTracker {Download Squad}

Sep 8th 2010 1:53PM I was never a fan of VersionTracker after the CNET acquisition, but I have been a fan of AppFresh.
Don't try looking for it on VersionTracker or MacUpdate, because they refuse to post competing apps. It has been pretty darn handy when you have some older drive images you have to roll out and want to update all the apps on it at one time rather than hope they get updated as users use the system.

Age of Empires Online -- the next iteration of the famous franchise is kinda, um, FarmVille... {Download Squad}

Aug 18th 2010 10:07AM And I am guessing this will be another big push used to get more people using Silverlight.
