We have a Tabard: I could teach you, but I'd have to charge {WoW}

Oct 14th 2009 11:50PM "give them websites they should use as resources to better their understanding."

This is what I think is key!

I started playing WoW when it first came out, then quit just before reaching 60. I returned for a little while during TBC because I was interested in the new races, however, I had seen a HUGE change in attitude.

I recently returned again, because I wanted to play a bit before Cataclysm changed everything.

In all the time I played, I have never ONCE raided. This is because I have NO IDEA HOW, nor am I sure I even play my class correctly. And it is not because I didn't ask. Go to almost any forum and ask a question like "What do I need to do to get the best DPS for my class?" And you will consistantly get conflicting answers that will end in either everyone agreeing to just "play for fun" or in a flame war that everyone elses opinion is wrong.

Almost the same thing happens with websites, either two or three sites will all give conflicting data, or just tell you to do what you want.

This puts me at great odds with the concept of you SHOULD know your class, when there are no consolidated resources.

However, if I were in a group that could give me the resources that they agreed was best for what that group wanted, I would be a lot more willing. Unfortunatly it seemed like all that would happen is the group would rather just snub me saying my gear was bad, or I'm specced wrong. Never would they tell me what I needed to change, or where I need to start to get the right gear.
