The Guild Counsel: SWTOR is stealing my (character) identity! {Massively}

Feb 3rd 2012 6:45AM @ Unverified

You are missing the point again. It is perfectly ok to have a different opinion and even argue for your position. It is immature to ascribe a bad motive to someone who disagrees with you.

The Guild Counsel: SWTOR is stealing my (character) identity! {Massively}

Feb 2nd 2012 5:17PM Are all SWTOR players this paranoid? Geez, since when is discussion of a major MMO's type of gameplay cause for such hysteria? This is a gaming magazine. They get the info out on MMOs. They discuss different aspects of most MMOs so we have enough information to make an informed choice. Sometimes they have opinions. That's ok, too. They shouldn't be attacked for having them. It's just one more thing to consider before YOU make YOUR personal decision to buy or play a particular MMO. Criticizing a gaming magazine for doing its job is is counterproductive and just plain stupid.

Do the columnists only get to cover games you like? Then you'd be screaming they were in the pocket of the MMOs. Dial down the immaturity a notch, okay? Take good reviews as sincere and criticisms as constructive without looking for some paranoid conspiracy/ax to grind
behind it. Some of you people are one step away from seeing Massively buzzing your houses in black helicopters.

Free for All: A second look at Fallen Earth's free model {Massively}

Jan 19th 2012 1:41PM I'm a whale. I subscribe to a bunch of games. EQ2 is the worst. As a subscriber I got only 7 character slots; I had 12 characters. I had to buy 5 extra slots. I had to buy a new class and expansions: most subscribers on F2P games get this stuff as part of the subscription.

Fallen Earth gives veteran gifts to subscribers lie Rift. They also had a promotion where there they returned all the points you spent in the cash store one month. Raised cash for them as they were trying to relaunch; I have a cache of points to spend on game items. The world channel is a thing of beauty in this game. Few jerks and GMs are often online to step in. Everyone tries to help newcomers. Lovely game.

The Daily Grind: Would you pay for an MMO's mobile app? {Massively}

Jan 16th 2012 11:29AM No, no, no.

Blizzard just sucks. They want to charge MORE money? I am so glad I am not drinking that kool-aid anymore.

The Tattered Notebook: If you think wings are weird... {Massively}

Jan 15th 2012 12:42PM It's starting to look like that freak show, AION.

And I agree. LOTRO handled the appearance tab much better. Armor should be restricted to class.

The Daily Grind: Do developers troll their fans? {Massively}

Jan 12th 2012 9:31AM Sparkle pony. WoW. 'Nuff said.

New TERA gameplay clips feature dungeons, boss fight, exploration {Massively}

Jan 11th 2012 3:07PM Sexism aside, when I am playing and I am stuck with stupid armor like that above (the "stylized" crap), I find it really difficult to become immersed in gameplay when my mind tends to focus on the utility of what my character is wearing. It's hard to play a game when you wonder about why she doesn't have scars on all that exposed skin, how vulnerable her organs are (the purpose of armor to protect--oops, a stab in the liver!), how she sits down in that outfit...to name just a few.

It's my fantasy game too. Why in hell wouldn't I want to play my characters as fierce and strong and wear the best armor?

Diablo III heading to a gaming console near you [Updated] {Massively}

Jan 11th 2012 8:36AM It is my understanding that WoW had over 13 million subscribers before Cataclysm and now that are down to around 10 million. While that is not "floundering", it is certainly cause for concern when you lose 20-25% of your business.

And we don't know how those numbers break down. Supposedly (reading trades again), the subscriber base was evenly split between Western countries and Eastern. Did they lose three million evenly? Is the dip from China or is it European and North American subscribers? If it is mostly from one subscriber base, that would be a cause for concern as well.

The Daily Grind: What's the fastest you've ever burned out on an MMO? {Massively}

Dec 31st 2011 6:03PM Burn-out for me is when I can no longer sign into the MMO. It's like a switch goes off. I just can't play it anymore. WoW took four years. EQII took nine months. AoC took seven months. AION took three months.

I haven't and won't go back to WoW. I gave AION another try to see if the experience of end-game would change my opinion of the game. I can't deal with the grinding. If you look at your quest list and see 20 "go kill x number of y", that game seriously sucks. EQII's character graphics suck and it bothers me plus Sony sucks. AoC is clearly not designed for women; it's hard to have any feminist credentials and still play a game that sells breast augmentation and "companions". It also has a terrible community.

I like SW:TOR but it is the first game I have dropped so early -- eight days. I feel I've had enough of it for awhile. I'll likely go back; I just don't know when.

Over one percent of League of Legends players have been banned {Massively}

Dec 27th 2011 6:24PM Daemodand, you can't draw that conclusion. You can't possibly know which came first. It's more likely that the teams were driven to report because something the teammate did was so egregious (leaving early, going AFK, etc.) it actually did cause them to lose the game. You can't get banned for lack of skill and then get scapegoated.
