PAX East 2011: Will World of Warcraft ever go free-to-play? {WoW}

Mar 17th 2011 9:24AM I hate "free" MMO's. The payment model just feels so sneaky and dishonest. I tried a game called Allods Online, which was supposed to be free to play. Sure you could play it for free, but if you didn't pay for items called "incense", you missed out on a buff that made the game practically unplayable, similar to rescurrection sickness in WoW.

Add to that having to pay real money for bag space, mounts, decursing "cursed" items to make them usable, etc. It all adds up to costing about the same monthly fee as WoW, but feeling incredibly sneaky and annoying.

Patch 4.1 will not contain Firelands raid content {WoW}

Mar 3rd 2011 9:10PM Actually, it looks like they are adding a bunch of new quests to Silithus and Arathi! Hopefully these are just the first step towards a full revamp of the zones.

Speculation: The War of the Ancients' connection to Patch 4.1's legendary staff {WoW}

Feb 28th 2011 3:42PM They're two completely different, yet reminescent, events. War of the Ancients was the first invasion of the Burning Legion on Azeroth, 10 000 years ago.

The battle of mount Hyjal was the final battle of the Third War (Warcraft III), only 20 years or so agi, where the Burning Legion attempted to return to Azeroth yet again and destroy the World Tree.

Patch 4.1 PTR: Running the new 5-man heroic Zul'Gurub {WoW}

Feb 26th 2011 9:13PM Why do the gurubashi use forest troll models in the screenshots?

Gallywix: Trade Secrets of a Trade Prince live at Blizzard's community site {WoW}

Feb 18th 2011 8:28PM Very entertaining short story! It really made me enjoy Gallywix's character more.

Now if only they gave him his own in-game model and finished the pleasure palace in Azshara..

Breakfast Topic: What pop figures deserve an Easter egg in WoW? {WoW}

Feb 12th 2011 9:08AM Isn't he called just "The Doctor", while the series is called "Doctor Who"? At least they never referred to him as "Doctor Who" in the old series...

The evolution of zerg dungeon farming {WoW}

Nov 18th 2010 8:35PM I was under the impression that the 4000 cap was only in place for the transition between WotLK and Cata, and is to be removed after release.

Anyway, the weekly cap on Valor points will certainly help in letting the player chose what to do. If you prefer raiding, you can cap your points by raiding a lot without feeling that you're missing valor points by not running daily heroics.

If you only raid a few bosses per week, you can do some daily heroics to compensate.

Gold Capped: Juggling the Volatiles market in Cataclysm {WoW}

Nov 18th 2010 10:20AM Yep, the Wowhead (and thus this article) is wrong on that point. Elementium veins do contain Elementium Ore (

WoW Insider's Weekly Webcomic: Safe Passage {WoW}

Nov 3rd 2010 12:54PM Lorewise, pretty much every race knows at least some common. It's purely for gameplay purposes that the horde can't understand it in WoW.

Know Your Lore: The Tinfoil Hat worgen edition, page 2 {WoW}

Oct 27th 2010 6:03PM To further prove that there where night elves in Eastern Kingdoms, there are some night elf ruins in the inaccessible Northern Loraeron ( Anyone know whether those are still there post-cataclysm, by the way?
