Breakfast Topic: Did you achieve your Winter Veil goals? {WoW}

Jan 2nd 2011 8:05AM Yes, I was able to do Crashin' & Thrashin' on my main, I had Merrymaker from last year. You could buy the required toy in the Dalaran Toy Shop if you didn't have it from two years back.

Arcane Brilliance: A friendly introduction to mage crowd control {WoW}

Dec 25th 2010 7:40PM Actually I don't really like to use Cat or Rabbit as they are too small and hard to find. Except if there is a raid symbol on them, but sometimes you CC that new caster at the back who decided to join the fight, and he doesn't have a symbol. Pig, Turtle, Sheep or the glyph ones are have decent size so those are not a problem. I usually use the Turtle ;)

Arcane Brilliance: Frost mage Cataclysm talent analysis {WoW}

Nov 14th 2010 3:15AM Early Frost: It always get Frostbolt under the GCD not just burn phases. GCD is 1.5 sec by default and with enougth haste it can be as low as 1.0 sec.

Now I have 880 haste (26%) on my mage, and the cast time is 1.53 sec by default. If you have Early Frost it will be 0.83, so well below the GCD even without any cooldown. I don't want to do the math but, my haste levels are not extremely hight, plus my GCD should be above 1.0 sec. So I think this is the case for nearly all mages not just me.

Early Frost is a PvP talent as a relpacement to Rank 1 Frostbolt. The dps gain is minimal for PvE.

Breakfast Topic: What would you tell your level 1 self? {WoW}

Oct 1st 2010 9:56AM Get some gatering professions instead of Tailoring/Enchanting. I had serious money issues during leveling, and Enchanting doesn't really gave me much (other than 2 wands) before max level. On the other hand it costed a lot of money, and instead of selling quest greens I had to DE them. Actually Tailoring was OK, with bags, and leveling gear for my mage, but Enchanting was a money hog. At one time I even had to farm money with fishing.

Arcane Brilliance: Things I've learned while dying in Cataclysm heroics, mage edition {WoW}

Sep 26th 2010 3:25AM I have similar problem, that I have fairly limited time each day, let's say I have 5 hours at night 4 of those for raiding. In Wrath I was able to do one random heroic before raid to get badges or gear I still needed. In Cata with something like 2-3 hour heroics this will not be viable. Plus as I see there will be less tanks and lot less healers in Cata, so queueing as a mage can be really painful. I can easily see half an hour queue as dps, and then half the team drops after the first wipe.

So basically you have to decide between raiding and heroic dungeons, because you will have no time to do both. And without doing heroic dungeons it will be even harder to do raids. So gearscore/link epic/achievements will be used even more than today to form a PUG.

Cataclysm Beta: Racial changes in build 12984 {WoW}

Sep 18th 2010 5:54AM I hope that they removed Perception, now Every Man for Himself can be back to it's 2min cooldown. The 3min cooldown doesn't make sense, because now you have to use a proper PvP trinket for PvP.

I also hoped that they remove the weapon specializations, but it looks like it will not happen as they added a new one for Gnomes. It is bad as it doesn't give any bonus to casters and healers.

The OverAchiever: Guide to Brewfest 2010 achievements {WoW}

Sep 16th 2010 5:56PM When you use the dungeon finder the first time to kill Coren you will get a bag which can contain the mount. The same way you get two Emblem of Frost the first time you queue for a random dungeon. If you queue for a second time that day you will not receive this bag, so you have only once chance at getting the mount each day. You can farm the drops from Coren (e.g.: trinkets), but the mount will not drop from him it will be a dungeon finder reward. We do not know for sure, but if an item had a high drop rate last year it will still drop from Coren, so you can farm it. If it had a low drop rate, like remote, mounts it will be a dungeon finder reward, so you cannot farm it. At least this was that way they did with the summer festival. We will only know for sure when the event starts, what will drop from Coren and what will be in the bag.

Know Your Lore: Grommash Hellscream, Page 2 {WoW}

Aug 26th 2010 4:20AM @Jamz

There are a couple of problems with this. The Draenei and Eredar are good at arcane magic thats sure, because that was the reason Sargeras found them in Argus at the first place. But after converting most of the people to the Burning Legion, they started to use the light.

Most of the Draenei you see are Vindicators (Paladins) and Priests. They obviously know Arcane magic, but they mostly use the Light and follow the Naaru. They shield their cities from the eyes of the Burning Legion.

The reason the Burning Legion finds them is because the Eredar and Kil'Jaiden considers Velen and the Draenei as traitors, and they actively searching for them. So they will always be found sooner or later, no matter what they do. Actually they were able to hide in Draenor for a long time.

Breakfast Topic: What not to do before Cataclysm {WoW}

Jul 29th 2010 8:19AM I'm not going to level any new alts. What is the point in leveling alts now, when you have a new leveling experience in Cataclysm. I will only finish leveling my horde alt (level 77 currently). Want to be able to do the pre-cataclysm event as both Alliance and Horde.

Arcane Brilliance: News and notes from Cataclysm beta build 12604 {WoW}

Jul 25th 2010 3:00AM I think the Frostbite removal is balanced by the new Improved Cone of Cold. Which is predictable not random as Frostbite was.
