May 28th 2009 10:41AM This isn't the only big Capcom-related thing that a Chinese company is ripping off this year. There's also a company developing a ripoff of the very popular(in Japan) Monster Hunter series, called "Hunter's Blade." Kotaku just ran a story about it last week: http://kotaku.com/5263942/chinas-take-on-monster-hunter
May 1st 2009 11:01AM "Glyph of Penance: Now increases critical strike chance by 5% instead of its old effect."
I had finally gotten used to being able to use it frequently enough to jump between the two tanks in our 10-man raid(we only have two healers). I will really miss that 2 seconds. Oh well, guess I'll be going back to the Prayer of Healing glyph.
Apr 15th 2009 11:13AM I don't know how feasible it would be, but wouldn't it be nice if certain free realm transfers were limited by faction? Proudmoore always shows up on these free transfers, but it is basically 4-to-1 Alliance-to-Horde. It's really hard to pick up people for raids as Horde as it is, and it always seems to get harder each time there's a free transfer off. Having an Alliance-only free transfer might alleviate the problem, though I couldn't say for sure.
Feb 8th 2009 7:26PM Has anyone fallen through Northrend and ended up in the Barrens? It's happened to two of my guildies and is really weird. They will going along and suddenly be dead and their spirit will pop in The Barrens. Because the body is so far away they have to spirit res, which is a pain. It happened in two different zones(one was Zul'drak and the other time was in Dragonblight, I believe), so I'm not sure what causes it.
Feb 5th 2009 3:55PM Not only just three classes, but only very specific talents within three classes. I've been raiding consistently for the past couple of months and I've never had Replenishment active(despite usually have a few pickup people to fill open slots). I'm a Disc priest and normally I don't have to worry about mana, but if things get really bad(an offtank dies or we get adds) I do occasionally run low or empty on mana. Does this mean that certain classes will HAVE to spec into a replenishment talent? Or that people might start losing raid spots for not having that particular talent?
Feb 2nd 2009 11:28AM Now that they've finally fixed Rapture(yay!), Crit for Disc priests also translates to mana regen due to the mana returns you get for a Divine Aegis absorbing damage.
Jan 11th 2009 11:44AM There is a really helpful video of this technique(dropping the mutagen clouds between the regular clouds) at tankspot: http://www.tankspot.com/forums/f206/41899-naxxramas-grobbulus.html
In practice, it's kind of tricky to get down just right, though with practice the main tank can figure out just how far to move between each cloud. Where it breaks down is toward the end of the fight, when the mutagen is coming so fast that there really isn't time or space to get everyone's in between the normal clouds.
Dec 18th 2008 2:41PM I like to heal. I wouldn't be comfortable doing dps or tanking or any of that. I switched to full Disc before going to Northrend to get practice for eventual raids. I usually would get a /tell every half hour or hour by someone looking for a healer, and eventually I had to start saying no because I never got anything else done. I've tried doing Heroics with pickup groups but they are always terrible, so I've switched to only running Heroics or raids with the guild.
It's just wayyy too stressful to heal pickup groups where half or more of the party is either undergeared or doesn't know how to play their class. I can usually keep people alive, but after one bad run I'm mentally exhausted and it makes the rest of the night less fun.
I still get frequent requests to join a pickup group, and whenever I join the LFG channel I will see a handful of group leaders giving the "need healer for Heroic _____ then gtg" for half an hour or more. I've known healers that switched to something else because they don't want to deal with the stress of raid or Heroic healing. If it's really down to an issue of certain personalities liking to heal while others do not, it's hard to point out any type of wide-reaching solution.
Dec 17th 2008 2:17PM It works the other way around also. As a healer I get targeted by 98% of the players in whatever Battleground I'm running, and it's always nice to get harassed by a rogue only to have a competent death knight ally yoink the rogue off me and lay down some hurt.
Oddly enough, I have to admit a death knight has never actually killed me without a lot of help. Being a disc priest probably has something to do with my general survivability(though I've never had to use Disc-only spells), but as long as I kept spamming Dispel and Abolish Disease on myself I could effectively kite a DK around while ranged allies killed him off. He couldn't mind freeze me because all I'd use are instants, and without diseases up a lot of their abilities aren't very good.
I also like it when a death knight Death Grips me right into the middle of his ranged/caster allies and I get to fear them all. I call that a LOLgrip.
Dec 9th 2008 10:13AM Three of five shaman healers available to our guild have, after a few rounds of Heroics, outright given up on healing and switched to Elemental for good. I play a Disc priest and have been taking my time getting through the content(maybe two levels a week at most), but now there is increasing pressure for me get to 80 so I can start running the nightly Heroics. I just want to fish.
The only frustration I've had in getting to the upper 70s is that nobody wants to do regular instances. Whenever I join LFG to try to run something like Occulus or Utgarde Pinnacle I get to watch hours of people saying 'lf healer for Heroic (insert instance name) then gtg.' I've run a lot of the lower-level instances and there have only been a couple of times that a group disbanded early on because we couldn't find a tank.
