Apr 3rd 2012 8:54PM I don't find it ethical either, but as any number of examples in recent memory will bear out, ethics aren't anywhere near the primary focus of a successful corporation that wants to *stay* successful. Profit uber alles.
Apr 3rd 2012 4:57PM That panic turned out to have some validity when Cataclysm was released.
Apr 3rd 2012 4:55PM "Unfortunately, it's the best idea I have to go on, because I can't otherwise fathom why unequal gender experiences still exist and are still being supported in the World of Warcraft."
A large majority of the world's gaming population is of an age and a gender where T&A, even cartoon-y T&A, are a positive feature for a video or computer game. So long as this is true it will make good business sense to pander to this fact. Bad moral and ethical sense, but in a free market society such concepts are secondary to profit.
Apr 2nd 2012 3:52PM Well don't I feel silly. I never even realized that that was his head.
Apr 2nd 2012 3:43PM The raid itself was just sorta "there" overall. It definitely seemed like something that the developers threw together in passing as they shifted focus towards reversing the subscription bleed with Mists. I personally don't mind that if the goal was indeed to make a Mists that is better targeted than Cataclysm was - I imagine that they want Cata over and done with as much as most of the rest of us seem to.
The "do battle with Deathwing's appendages" thing at the end, though, seemed to me like a bit of a tactical misstep. Maybe I just wasn't invested in the story enough (Cata's opening PvE content turned me off so I quit last February and didn't come back until recently - my only experience with DW was getting flame-bombed once), but there wasn't much that was epic about fighting a nameless claw or a jiggly tendon.
Apr 2nd 2012 3:20PM Sounds like the developers learned a lesson from one of Cataclysm's larger failures - the length of the opening dungeons. Between that and the difficulty level of the heroic versions it put Cata's PvE progression behind the 8-ball, and it never really recovered. Good to hear that the lessons has sunk in.
Mar 29th 2012 8:48PM Good point about the resell value.
Mar 29th 2012 8:47PM Not sure how much the druid community is going to like this. I guess you could just try to remember to changes specs to whatever spec you want to get gear in before turning in a quest.
My biggest concern would be missing out on good transmog gear.
Mar 28th 2012 9:26AM Best thing to do if you're going to play something undergeared in a BG is to try to bring a CC class. Bring a druid and Cyclone every free-casting healer you see. Root every mage or hunter that's kiting one of your melee. Play a rogue and chain-CC a healer. Don't worry about damaging him, just lock him down as best you can so the other guys can kill his buddies. Bring a priest and Mana Burn every caster in sight, healers especially.
One thing that makes Battlegrounds more versatile than Arena is that there's more to it than just killing the other guy. One of the best ways to break a midfield standoff in AV is to go stealth-cap towers/bunkers in the enemy base - a good chunk of the enemy will head back to recap, and since those are going to be the smarter ones anyway, you've doubly hurt their side by taking their brains out of the main fight. You can also take advantage of their dumber ones in AB by ninja-capping their flags when they all go charging off after the next node and don't leave any defenders at the one they just took. Just watch out for stealthers.
Mar 28th 2012 9:14AM I'm least excited about the Pandaren themselves - mostly because I keep having to answer questions from people who know I used to play WoW and who don't play themselves (most of my friends and family) about why Blizzard made a game based on the Kung Fu Panda movies, whether or not Jack Black's character is in it, or other similar questions.
I'm most *concerned* about PvP, specifically how the developers are going to manage class balance with this new talent system. PvP below 90 in particular seems like it'll be a nightmare as some classes get their uber-PvP talents while others don't, but balancing at 90 could be problematic as well. I'm a little curious to see what Mists' "frost mage" will be, though.
