Arcane Brilliance: Time to talk about the mage tier 13 set bonuses {WoW}

Oct 5th 2011 5:27AM Theyas,

I see you have not been paying attention to your lessons yet again. Binary code is made up of one's and zeroes, not one's and two's.

That's another F for you. See me after class.

Kind regards,
Professor Magefest

Arcane Brilliance: Beginner's guide to being a mage {WoW}

Jul 10th 2011 12:53AM "Of all the specs, my personal opinion is that this one just feels the most ... magey."

Greetings Archmage Pants!

Now, normally I find myself agreeing with all of your highly amusing ramblings, but today I find myself in the opposite corner. Fire feels the most magey? Dear lord, have you gone mad?!?

Of all the mage specs, Fire is the one that contains the most DOT spells. Flashburn is all about increasing your periodic damage. One of the signature moves of the fire mage is to get all your dots up then use Combustion to combine them into a mega-dot. Have I said "dot" enough yet?

Now - what other class is famed for their dot spells? Think hard now... yes that's right: warlocks. That class you so often proclaim your hatred for. It's a fine line between love and hate and I have some concerns that you may have crossed over into the "love" territory.

Say it ain't so Archmage! I suggest an immediate detoxification course of only playing arcane and frost for at least the next week.

Get well soon.

Love,
Magefest

Raid Rx: Healing loot from Zul'Aman and Zul'Gurub in patch 4.1 {WoW}

Apr 23rd 2011 1:17AM Hi Matt,

Good article, but can you please use something other than mmo-champion.com to create links to items? For some reason the tooltips don't appear on mouseover for me... unlike wowhead which always does.

Thanks!

Patch 4.1: Blizzard unveils dungeon finder Call to Arms {WoW}

Apr 9th 2011 7:28AM I am sure this has been said already, but I don't have time to read all 21 pages of comments on this post...

I applaud Blizzards efforts to reduce the queue times for dps toons as that is what I usually play (well, I rolled a holy pally cos I got sick of the queue times but you know what I mean). Free loot for those willing to tank? Hey, no problem! I have done some tanking in Wrath and it was the hardest role in this game, so I have no problem with tanks getting a free pet or whatever.

But this won't fix a damn thing.

Blizzard, listen to me carefully. I know you guys spent ages coding to make cross server instances work, and technically speaking you have done a fantastic job. But now you have to dump that and revert to single server again. I'm sorry, but human nature has taken your triumph of game code and turned it into a cesspool of griefing toolbags.

The way to get more people to tank, or heal, or even dps for random pugs - is to make their reputation matter again. If somebody is being a dick, and the entire group is from the same server, then word will spread. The community will start policing itself again. Kittens and puppies will rain from the sky!

Please, please, please - restrict the dungeon finder to the players server of origin only. At the very least, add a checkbox so I can select that option.

Thanks.

Raid Rx: 7 pet peeves of healers {WoW}

Jan 21st 2011 6:44PM Anderson,

The reason so many people are writing "here's what I hate about healers.." is probably because THAT'S WHAT THE AUTHOR ASKED US TO DO!

Go and read the last paragraph again:
"Now, it wouldn't be fair of me to lay out what irks us healers without offering you a chance to do the same thing. I'd like to invite you now to list what healer habits annoy you and what you'd like to see different from us."

Jan 21st 2011 6:31PM Hi Vanillabean,

Yes, I play a mage. Yes, AOE is a PART of what we did in Wrath.

Here's something else good mages do: we adjust the way we play if it leads to us repeatedly being killed by mobs the tank can't hold aggro on.

Seriously mate, you can't stubbornly keep AOEing like crazy and expecting the tank to suddenly get better and hold aggro. Was the tank bad for not using Thunderclap, etc? Yes he was.

Were you bad for not switching to single target dps? Yes you were.

The Daily Quest: Healerific {WoW}

Jan 8th 2011 9:45PM Ronin,

I suspect that the writer was just making a little joke. Relax. Nobody thinks that healers are perfect and it's everybody else making all the mistakes.

Good news!

There is an addon called IgnoreMore that does exactly what you want - an account wide ignore list not limited to 49 players. You can even add your own comments as a reminder of exactly why you have ignored them so you never forget (or forgive) their transgressions.

Breakfast Topic: What's a deal-breaker in your love for a particular race? {WoW}

Dec 27th 2010 8:27PM I second that Pyromelter.

Kat, thanks very much for posting that YouTube link, and a massive thanks to whoever spent god only knows how long tracking down dance video for each race / gender and splicing them together.

Seriously, how long must that have taken?

PS. Who is the artist / song at approx 57 seconds? Is it hot in here? I may be in love...
