Aug 5th 2011 12:51PM I understand that it's anecdotal evidence. I am at work; I can't spend hours pulling data for you. Go through World of logs top 100 DPS parses for the normal modes on fights with heavy movement. There is always a discrepancy between Marks and BM that favors Marks. All the movement in the world isn't going to overcome the severe scaling issues of BM; any fight that has movement will effect BM as much as Marks. Marks has the cushion of having heavier hitting shots that scale off of weapon damage to mitigate (some) of the DPS loss from movement.
Aug 5th 2011 12:20PM I understand that Marks also benefits from a perfect stand still fights (just as Survival and BM do). I think you are underestimating how heavy add fights can effect the DPS of BM hunters. Let's look at Cho'Gall normal, for example, a fight with lots of adds and some movement. I went into World of Logs and pulled the top number for BM hunters (26, 265) and compared it to the top MM parse (28, 480). The difference is roughly 2K, or a little less than 10%. For myself and other raiders, that's still a considerable gap to overcome. It also mirrors the 10% difference you found for a perfect standstill fight. For the twin dragons (a fight with an air phase and movement), Marks pulled 34,694 while BM pulled 27,839. That's almost 5K between the two specs or almost 20% difference. While Marks is effected by movement, good Marks hunters know to pool focus and time cool downs for when they need to move.
Aug 5th 2011 11:38AM I find this article to be disingenuous at best. This is a perfect world scenario that assumes no target switching and 100% pet up time. Any time a BM hunter's pet is not on their target, they are losing DPS. Multiple adds, air phases, etc take huge chunks out of BM's DPS. Marks and Survival are less effected by these mechanics as they do not overwhelmingly rely on their pets for DPS.
BM has severe scaling issues (as does Survival). The gap between Marks and BM/Survival will only widen as the expansion goes on as Marks scales off of weapon damage and BM/Survival do not.
While I do appreciate what Frost is trying to help out BM, glossing over the severe mechanical issues endemic to the spec is not doing anyone any favors. The hunter community as a whole is frustrated with the poor scaling/DPS of both Survival and BM. Painting a rosy picture of the BM spec without going into it's drawbacks ultimately hurts the cause of BM hunters.
Jan 13th 2011 12:56PM "I can't believe I threw up in front of Dean Wormer!"
"Face it Kent, you thew up ON Dean Wormer"
As the proud member of a family who quotes Animal House the way other families quote the Bible (we named our dog Dean Wormer), I approve of this sentiment:
"Animal House is pretty much the best movie ever made."
Jan 11th 2011 11:09AM I commend your choice of RL dog. My family has a vizsla mix named Dean Wormer (a la Animal House). I am glad that "thinks he's a lap dog" is a consistent breed trait XD.
Oct 14th 2010 6:23PM They've been overrun with a flood of QQ tears and trolls. Best to just ignore them for the next few days while we theorycraft what the optimum gem/talent/glyph/stat setup is. At the moment it's a juvenile shouting match where the vast majority of the shouters are grossly uninformed.
Oct 14th 2010 1:30PM @Muse: You have inspired me to do this for every single trash pull Monday. :D
Oct 12th 2010 12:33PM I see your comment and raise you a comment.
Oct 7th 2010 12:02PM I wouldn't assume that she got the gifts simply because she was a girl. It sounds like one of her friends plays the TGC game and doesn't have an interest with the in-game items he receives. It would seem logical that he would give the pets to his friend that's crazy about pets. For the other individuals she named, it sounds like she does runs of the various dungeons for them with them (not that they give them to her).
Instead of jumping to conclusions, maybe you could give her the benefit of the doubt, instead of falling back on tired cliches about girls in WoW.
Oct 5th 2010 5:44PM I just started watching The Guild and I love it :)
Question: How long is the gap usually between seasons?
