Nov 5th 2009 6:41PM @onetrueping Did you read my post? Did I say someone having a vanity pet is ruining my ability to roleplay? Did I mention being jealous of a vanity pet? Let me break it down for you in simple mode.

Blizz is taking the role playing out of WoW by selling items. I enjoy the experience of the games story and environment. It is sad to see cool items that were not earned/obtained by the character end up in the virtual world. It weakens the experience.

@irem You are correct if the fact that their are different types of gamers. Whether you are raiding, grinding, questing, getting achievements, banking, or being creepy and hitting on the hot inkeeper in your hometown... it is all part of a massive virtual world that allows you to do what you want(in game). I consider myself to be in the same demographic as you. I dont wear a cloak and staff while I play, lol. The point im trying to make is since this is a MMORPG. Using real world items in game(cash) defeats the purpose of an RPG. Im not going to be affected any more than an occasional frown when I see something cool that was bought. Its just a move in a direction that I think may annoy some and alienate others if things progress beyond this.

Nov 5th 2009 12:38PM Bliz is taking the RPG out of MMORPG. Although vanity items do not affect gameplay they do effect the element of role playing. If I see another player with a sweet mount or companion, knowing that that person bought it with real worl cash from a website pulls me out of the game. This ruins the experience. Think of how you all feel when you see another player with that all coveted weapon with the .0001% drop rate from the final boss in any given raid. You feel envious and become more determined the achieve that goal, you dont think.. Hey, when I get my next paycheck that baby is gonna be mine!
