Apr 15th 2010 11:35PM I have a feeling this will be the most popular thread of the week. OMG.
Apr 15th 2010 11:08AM I see what you did there.
And yes, it makes me RAGE at Blizz.
Apr 15th 2010 11:07AM Blizzard is going to make so much money off that steed. Holy crap.
Apr 10th 2010 9:59PM I feel a little betrayed about this. I mean, look at -ALL- of the Lich King weapon drops. They all have epic names and flavor text. Flaaaaavor.
If I have a choice between the neat looking ice blade with a black glow or a slightly less neat looking silver blade with no glow but flavor text which says "The might of the stars will crush thine enemies asunder"; if the stat difference is negligible, I'm going for flavor text.
Flavor is what makes WoW, WoW. Rampant holiday events, silly loot drops, a hat that shoots lightening, bosses that reference pop culture, over a hundred mounts and vanity pets...
People who will never raid, people who will never see 80, let alone 85, play the game because it's fun and neat and cool because of FLAVOR.
GC, the token WoW community rep, coming out and saying "You don't need this, it's just flavor" is -exactly- what all the MMOs that don't do -nearly- as well as WoW have done when it comes to their extra content. No inscriptions on weapons, no non-major holidays, no 'just for looks' equipment, no style; just soulless calculator function beneath an aging coat of paint.
It kind of stings that we've essentially been told 'This isn't a democracy, so your voice really doesn't matter'.
I'm so disappointed. Bitterly disappointed.
I can have a balanced casting form, a tanking form, a dps form, a travel form for land, air and sea, and a heal... oh wait. No. You're taking away my healing form.
So Druids have a form for every utility they bring to the table, EXCEPT healing.
It makes zero sense. Why should druids have any forms if they don't have every form? Why does only one form become a warlock-esq cool down? There isn't a single reason I've seen so far that doesn't scream 'oh, it kinda sucks in pvp and we can't seem to get any artists to update it'.
And what the hell about the lore? "You've been able to be a tree indefinitely for five years buuuut.. now you can only do it for 1 minute at a time with a 5 minute cool down."
Seriously. What the hell.
Apr 9th 2010 10:34PM Dear blizzard,
Please update the appearance for Resto form. Don't banish it to an irregular form like Metamorphosis.
Taurens are ugly.
Yet Another Ugly Cow
Apr 9th 2010 11:59AM Say what you will about 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'; but part of me still feels a little like Cataclysm is Christmas for most of the classes and Rogues are Jewish. We still get a holiday, but our presents are more modest and there's no day after smoke bomb sale.
Apr 9th 2010 11:37AM I'm going to chime in and agree, as a PvE rogue, the new rogue abilities do seem pretty meh. The low level HoT? Would've been -fantastic- when I was leveling, and may be some much needed mercy for those who haven't been able to get a rogue up themselves.
The Fan of Knives change could be super cool if it actually uses arrows/bullets/model-of-thrown weapon; but if it consumes ammo I imagine that the rumored infinite ammo stacks are just around the corner or else we're getting screeeewed!
The usefulness of Smoke Bomb, IMO, is going to be entirely up to how intrusive it is on screen to the friendly party. If "Gary's" ancient graphics card means he can't see past the cloud and he's on the friendly side, suddenly there's a very pissed party member and HPS/DPS/TPS is going down the crapper. I've known people with old graphics cards who couldn't see the 'fire', and they died a lot until they upgraded. A similar folly with this could make it nigh useless.
I imagine though that -good- rogues will be expected to use it just as good rogues are expected to Tricks the tank at all times.
It's a nice update. I'm not -angry- at any of the changes, but nor am I thrilled or intensely curious to see how it'll play out like some of the other announced changes so far. I don't think cataclysm will make anyone start a rogue if they had no interest to do so before now, and there's nothing that screams "come back to your neglected rogue alts!" either.
Mar 1st 2010 1:32PM Oh my goodness. I'd never thought about that before, but that's a fantastic idea. Even if it was just a reskin of the current ingame Dryads; gender specific druid forms would be awesome.
Mind you, I'm also of the class that believes some sort of cosmetic druid form armor could go a long way to making druids less boring since most of our dungeon/raid runs are done entirely in shapeshifted form.
