Mar 31st 2012 7:54PM I think Ronin is on point here. A game I play called The Settlers Online recently made a similar change. An item called 'Beer' was renamed to 'Brew'. Censors seem to be pretty hot on alcohol being "trivialised" at the moment. Next month will probably be nudity, then the month after that they'll focus on drugs etc etc. The way some people justify their jobs these days...
Mar 29th 2012 5:44PM I think the Challenge tab on that window is the way to see your times, what medals you have and where you are situated on the realm ladder.
That window is not "just" a group finder window.
The other giveaway is that if Challenge modes were to be on a group finder system, it would be listed in the 'Group Finder' tab, yet it's clearly not there.

The problem with a rep system is that it is foiled by the very people that you seek for it to shut out. Look at the "report spam" feature as a very simplified version of the rep system. If you get enough arseholes on a server together, they will target an individual and "reports spam" them regardless of what they did. Since it is an automated system, the "victim" will be server muted, or even kicked because of this abuse.
A rep system, without a review system to back it up, would fail.
Mar 27th 2012 3:23PM I would agree, I mean, I have my own concerns regarding how far the new VP system will push subsequent tier ilvls, furthering the problem which the whole itemsquish/mega damage discussion arrived from, but I'm not sure I feel I can concdemn the system for the reasons you're citing....yet.
For me, it all depends on how VP distribution will work in Mists.
Will there be a weekly cap?
How much VP will it take to up the ilvl on an item?
Without answers to those two questions, I can't say if using VP on sub-tier loot would be wasteful or not. What I do know is, there will be a cap on how much can be stored, and being at that cap week after week will be far more wasteful that levelling up the LFR loot you are failing to replace.
I'm expecting players will make sure they are always above 50% of their VP cap as much as possible, and will wait until a raid clear before spending them.
Mar 27th 2012 2:33PM I'm suspecting that it aims to reward as many people as the current 25man loot system per boss kill, but I must admit, the way it's worded does make it sound like a potential 25 man loot orgy could happen, but I think that is down to the choice of wording.
Mar 27th 2012 2:28PM I'm very interested by it, and a little concerned, mainly due to the constant issue of ilvls increasing too much over the course of an expansion, but as long as they keep it tight, it shouldn't be an issue.
I just don't want to see another article discussing how to fix the issue when they don't address the cause.
Mar 25th 2012 7:05AM I have seen a video in beta that confirms that they do.
At the moment I think the effect isn't final. It's a bit too radial at the moment, but that's my tastes and may not be what the devs are going for.
Mar 25th 2012 7:03AM I'm still holding out for the idea that it's going to be Kul Tiras...although I'm starting to think that will be the 5.1 content patch. (Basically, where do you think Jaina will go after the destruction of Theramore?)
Mar 21st 2012 7:24PM "Speculation isn't news. WoWinsider is supposed to cover news and informative topics."
Where the hell did you get that from? This is not exclusively a news site. It's a blog site. At what point do you think you are of the right to tell the people who created and run this site what they should or shouldn't blog about?
Mar 21st 2012 2:51PM I'm pretty much feeling the same way, which actually annoys me a bit. I wasn't hating or dreading this expansion, but by not looking forward to it, I was reducing the chance of being disappointed like I have with the last three expansions. My expectations go a bit overboard when I'm excited about things.
However, what I'm liking this time round are the systems. I'm so effing happy about the changes to the Glyph system it's unreal. Hopefully we will get more than one Glyph per ability (with only one active at a time) so both the Glyph system AND the Talent system become a situation tinkering device for us.
Likewise I'm intrigued by the changes to VP, however, considering what caused the need to review player power (the item squish/mega damage article), I feel that in the long term, without really looking at loot in general, this system is just going to accelerate the problem.
