Limited edition WoW cups coming to ampm stores {WoW}

Jan 27th 2012 8:05AM Forget the rest of the US or Brazil...how about doing a deal with a British shop?!

Profanity filters, homophobic slurs, and Blizzard's shaky relationship with the LGBT community {WoW}

Jan 25th 2012 10:12AM There is a certainly a case for banning retard, and I'll /sign that one. There is no possible way any of its other highly technical meanings can be used or need to be used in a game situation. Who on earth says "use a retard spell on the boss" when they mean "slow him down"?

So while there is some legitimate debate to be had on the word 'fag' - on EU servers only, I fully support a ban on US servers - most of these words should be disposed of pretty quickly.

Jan 25th 2012 10:06AM In 2012, in the UK, a cigarette is still a 'fag'. Sorry.

I think it's case for region-by-region banning, though, and as an amateur writer I'm very careful not to use it when referring to cigarettes in my work, as I do want to reach American readers. Context is key.

Jan 25th 2012 10:03AM That's the case for 'fag' made (and as a fellow Brit I agree, I think it is too commonly used for cigarette to be banned outright :( ), but 'faggot' has about zero relevance to the game as it stands. It's like the word 'retard' - sure, it has a medical definition, but who uses it in that context in the middle of WoW?

Jan 24th 2012 4:45PM The worgen/wolf-man boss in Kara still has the old look.

Jan 24th 2012 4:41PM This probably would not be a huge sticking point anymore but the Nexus has specific enemies for Alliance and Horde groups.

Also I think Blizzard still want to keep Alliance and Horde separate for purposes of gameplay. We *know* out of game people communicate, but in-game it wouldn't make much sense, and tbh if you fundamentally alter that balance, you are going to disrupt other people's sacred cows.

I'm not entirely against it but I suppose if you are going to maintain the distinction between factions, they have to be sensible.

Jan 24th 2012 4:28PM Does this mean every time we get a new pet, we will have it mailed to all our toons on the same account, and will it be retroactive? What about the special pets like the Guild Page I have on my main?

Sorry if that sounds a naive question but this is the first time I've heard it mentioned and I'd like to find out a bit more.

Breakfast Topic: Which part of "Mists of Pandaria" has you most excited? {WoW}

Oct 22nd 2011 1:05PM Since it's your legal system that dictates this, then it's worth putting pressure on your government to change the law to include you in these kind of promotions.

Battle.net authenticator process updated with smarter log-in detection {WoW}

Jun 17th 2011 11:36AM I hope people aren't expecting Blizzard to release details of what they are monitoring - that will only help would-be hackers know what to target.

Breakfast Topic: Guild achievements and you {WoW}

Jun 16th 2011 9:06AM My guild on Aerie Peak EU (Horde) is working on all the achievements. I'm still only level 73, but our 85s have run us through things I never expected to see, including Karazhan and UBRS - I have the Jenkins title, which I've never got before.

Definitely love the system and it gives a big incentive to guilds to socialise together.
