I have a freezing band equipped to get those pesky rogues and warriors off me. When this thing procs, I just laugh at them and it has procced alot :D. We're the only class that doesnt have an incapacitating skill along with druids (unless they specc for bear charge) and you can almost say warriors but they don't count since hamstring lasts for EVER and well they do have intimidating shout (on cooldown). It doesnt really do much against casters except for +10 frost resistance maybe against mages but not too concerned since we've got earth shock and grounding totems. The + frost damage is pretty nice since I buff frostbrand on my weapon anyway.
Nov 26th 2006 5:22PM lol shamans aren't that hard to play. Just work out what you're better at...? being a caster? Melee or healer?
Caster? Spec in the elemental tree and get + spell dmg and crit gear. Some elemental shammies like to spend 31+ points for Elemental Mastery while others prefer 30/21 Elemental/Restoration for Nature's swiftness. I myself prefer 30/21 as it gives me so many more options in the game from PvP to PVE.
Melee? Get yourself a fat 2 Hander (Maces easier to come by than axes), some gear with strength or attack power and spec down the Enhancement tree. I like to go all the way to Stormstrike. Buff your weapon with Windfury or Rockbiter and swing away. You'll do extremely well against casters with enhancement provided you are in melee range.
Healer? Specc down the Restoration tree all the way to mana tide (Why isn't this a skill yet? We'll never know) :( . You'll be mostly involved in raid PVE unless you like to raid heal in BGs. Get yourself some nice +healing and + mana per 5 gear and a decent mana pool. Don't restrict yourself to mail either (but only once the clothies and leather wearers pass on those items) cos as a raid healer you really shouldn't be getting hit so your armor type shouldn't make all that much of a difference.
Nov 6th 2006 9:32PM They should change the rank of the ladder from killing blows to damage dealt. Its so frustrating when you do all the hard work and a mage comes along with 1one fireblast for the killing blow.
