Jul 10th 2010 2:18PM Too bad it's not yet open for Canadians. AoL never did like us Northerners, even when they had us as dialup customers wayyyy back when.
That said, I am more than happy to raid in an open learning environment if I choose to pug an ICC raid.
I announce my raids as "newbie raids" and ensure everyone attending knows that they will NOT be getting an easy ride, or a farm-night of badges. I have a "Ventrillo Howto" site ready for anyone who has never used vent, and needs to get it set up. I have overview and role-specific guides handy to explain the fights on an as-needed basis (ie, a new-to-raiding mage is not sure what his job is, I can focus more on ranged positioning, movement, and abilities that matter to the mage. Anyone who is not happy with the raid format, leaves or gets removed. Everyone else, has a good time, maybe sees a boss dead, and gets to experience raiding that they may never have been able to experience before.
My selection process is done on a one-by-one basis. Come see me, I'll take a look, and if you are lacking, I'll giv eyou advice on how to fix it, or where to look for info. I even have an enchanter, a tailor, and a jewel cafter available to assist them in any enchants / gems they need to add to their gear / replace in their gear. Once I have a look, and a chat, I'll decide if you are ready to raid with me, or not. If you are not, I'll point you in the direction you need to go to get some better experience / gear. If you are ready, you get an optional invite, or a "I'll message you when I am closer to ready to roll" if you want to continue questiong, doing dailies etc while we form up.
Of course, this only applies to my "learning raids" for new folks. Progression raids I don;t pug. That is done through a raiding alliance for me. I would not want to try and pug anything past the lower spire, and the two aboms in ICC. Just not pretty.

VuhDo does have portability between characters. You simply go into the .. umm.. 3rd last tab? (I stopped using it the day after I installed it) and you can save your profiles there. Save one and call it .. say.. "Leviathan".. Then load up another toon, and in the same tab, you can load the newly saved profile. You can edit the profile and it applies to everyone who uses it, or you can rename and save it so that each character has different abiliteis and layouts - based on your first "Leviathan" profile.
I just found that Pitbull was OH so much more configurable, and with Clique behind it, I have not foudn anything I can not do that I woudl want to do.
Jun 10th 2010 4:30PM I simply can't imagine using a key-modifier for an instant cast...
All my unmodified mouse-clicks via Clique are mapped to instants (rejuvenation, Lifebloom, Wild Growth). Shift clicks are longer heals (regrowth, nourish and because it was a nice fit, swiftmend). Ctrl and Alt clicks have the less frequent abilities (cleanses, rezzes, buffs etc.)
Anyhow, I am in agreeance with a lot of the posters. Yes it is a good mouse. No this article should not have been posted here. I value sites that remain brand-neutral. Obviously the site is a Blizzard fansite, but when it comes to things liek your mouse, your video card, choice in ISP, best gaming router etc. these things should be in reviews, with comparisons to other products, not articles. Write the article about the mouseover macro, and clique or how to use healbot more effectively, and you have me sold. Keep the brands and "zOMG. Best. Mouse. Ever." fanboi stuff to the review pages.
Feb 2nd 2010 8:47AM Yes.... right..... It's JUST that easy.
PvP today means playing the right class / spec - which is one of about 5 - and having all the right gear, and having the skills to know every other classes abilities, and rotations, and knowing when to trinket / racial out of what, and. and. and...
Because I raid in a progression group, I am not allowed to PvP without spending 70 gold for a respec to do so. Why? Because I am a druid. I run balance for downing bosses, and resto for early progression attempts as we learn the fights. Both specs are raid optimized. Neither is even acceptable for any form of serious PvP. Arena? Forget it. Even with a good selection of PvP gear, holding just shy of 1k resiliance, I get ROFLStomped in either spec. (Eat the first stun, and hope barkskin keeps me alive till I can cast an instant HoT (Has to be lifebloom so that I get something even if it's dispelled) and then a rejuv. Kitty-Sprint away, roots (which he'll trinket out of) and .. err.. wrath? Moonfire? Hope he's not too close yet.... (did he vanish? Can I even see him?) ohhh.. there's the second stun I can trinket out of, only to be cast another heal cause I'm alsmost dead, and be interrupted/school-locked. Now I have to cyclone, travel form, and kite him till my school lockout is done so I can cast another heal (finally). If I'm REALLY lucky, I'm still alive.. and all I am doing, is healing myself through his damage....)
So, if I want to PvP.... I have to hack-and-slash through Wintergrasp or epicly painful BG's till I have enough honour, stonkeeper shards, and marks to buy the 232 or better PvP items, trinkets, and gear. Then MAYBE the resiliance gives me enough survivability to last through that first stun that we all know, should probably not be trinketed out of. Maybe I will stay alive loing enough to actually do a bit of damage to the other guy. ...... but probably not, cause the other guy.. always seems to be a PvP hardcore that knows as much about PvP "pwnage" as a hardcore raider does about staying out of fires...
And to the OP, FWIW, of course you died to a priest. You were running when the fight started. Your only GOAL was to run. You are a rogue. You do not run well. You sneak. Shadowstep, Vanish, sap, kidney shot, backstab, etc. etc. Your class requires that you start the fight with the upper hand. If not, you are as squishy as a mage without mana.
Dec 29th 2009 9:53AM Mmmmm.. Path of Cenarius for a Guardian of Cenarius. Yes, thank you.
Nov 23rd 2009 4:36PM Oh.. My.. Gawd.. That thing would never, ever, EVER leave my side...
