Mar 29th 2012 6:46PM I was waiting for the little girl from Rush Hour to make a cameo. "Yeah, push the button!"
Mar 8th 2012 4:02PM I like the idea of a new villainous faction with a different agenda than the Burning Legion. I know we won't be seeing a big bad this expansion, but Deathwing, Lich King, Arthas, Illidan have been around lore-wise for years and years. At least have the Burning Legion create a new monstrosity. Their tactics are getting a bit old.
Perhaps we glean some inspiration from the brand spanking new race, Pandarians. What would be the worst threat to Pandas? Bamboo devouring nanites. /shrug Worked for Stargate SG-1.
Mar 8th 2012 2:16PM That was awesome. I remember doing a lot of exploring when I first started my little gnome mage, and I think that's what got me hooked originally.
I especially remember the run from Thelsamar to Menethil Harbor. All of a sudden I'm exploring a tunnel when I got ambushed by orcs. I kept running only to come out on the other end to find oozes, spiders, crocs, and raptors. I had missed several quests in Loch Modan and Dun Morogh, so I was 2 or 3 levels too low for Wetlands. I figured if I just stayed on the road I would be okay. Dodging mobs or freezing them and blinking away ( I did a lot of running away on my little mage) until I finally made it there alive! It was the most exhilarating 20 minute run. It gave me a huge sense of accomplishment for braving a new world and coming out of it unscathed. It wasn't the same experience doing it again on an alt, because I knew what was ahead of me.
My advice to new players would be to mix in a good bit of exploring with the quests just to see what you can find. When my brother first started playing I had to stop myself from telling him where to go and what to do, or answer some questions with "You'll find out!". It allowed him to explore the game for himself and enjoy it as much as I did. I do think that players new to MMOs tend to do this anyway since they aren't necessarily conditioned to grinding out quests.
Mar 4th 2012 3:15AM Over/Under on how long the new lock columnist last is set at 5.5 weeks before Mr. Belt runs him/her out of town.
Señor Archmage Pants hasn't been challenged recently. I like a one-shot Pyroblast! to a lock's face as much as the next mage. However, wouldn't multiple Pyroblast!s to a lock's face, neck, torso, arms, hands, legs, and feet be more satisfying? We just need a lock to be able to stand up that long.
In all seriousness I wish the best to the new warlock columnist and hope for nonstop barbs in both directions. Just don't expect C. Belt to back down. Go Mages!
Feb 7th 2012 2:29PM I say just scrap the warlock column and replace it with Archmage Pants' Weekly Warlock Rant.
Feb 11th 2011 2:07PM Another MI tip. When you pop MI to shift aggro from yourself to one of your other selves you are not necessarily out of the woods. You may still be in the danger area for cleaves and/or aoe. Pop MI, relocate to a safer spot, recommence face melting.
Apr 13th 2010 3:19PM Necromancies? Did you just make that word up?
Nov 23rd 2009 6:38PM I promise not to eat it.
