Dec 2nd 2011 2:48PM Not sure this is the best spot, and I could be missing something, but wouldn't one increase one's chances of getting good loot, if one holds off on doing LFR until later in the week, once everyone else has already blown their one chance to roll on loots?
Obviously not an exploirt, but the people I rolled with on the first day each individually had a much lower chance of getting lootz that week than did the 3 people in the group who were rolling this morning.
Nov 14th 2011 2:54PM "You say your girlfriend is a very different person"
Actually, he said his girlfriend was a very different PLAYER.
I took him to be talking specifically about his way of interacting with people in game, not about his general pattern of interaction.
Agree that finding a female friend isn't the right approach.
Maybe I am an antisocial 40-year old, but I don't hang out with workmates outside of work, and I agree with those who said that guys my age aren't going to drive 12 hours to see most friends just because.
Perhaps I am just more like the original letter writer generally. I like my guild and am happy with it, but I genuinely see the other folks in the guild as in-game friends, like nice colleagues. It wouldn't occur to me to interact with them out of game.
Nov 8th 2011 1:02PM Not sure if this is the best place, but the poll has long since passed, and this seems like the most likely place to get read, if we can still give suggestions as to content for OverAchiever.
I'd like to see coverage of the achievements for some of the newer battlegrounds. If you click on the strand of the ancients link over to the right, you get some strats and suggestions for how to complete the achievements. if you click isle of conquest, you get a brief description of the layout of the BG, and nothing about achieves. So, perhaps some suggestions for the newer BGs. (Tol Barad optional, I'd imagine, as it's not as complicated as most of the others).
Oct 29th 2011 10:27AM For me, it's the trolls dungeons. Not a hardcore raider at all (part of a casual guild that may or may not get a new boss down once every couple of weeks, so haven't even set foot in firelands).
In any case, on a day to day basis, my usual activity would be a lot of heroics.
But ZA/ZG has kind of killed that for me. There are some challenging mechanics, sure, but nothing too super difficult. HOWEVER, they are really long. Now that I know all the fights, it's just a matter of taking the time to go through them all.
And if one has a newer healer or tank (or two new dps) in the group, there are fights that the group just won't get done. So you figure out at some point that that's the group you're in, and now you are left with the choice of staying with the group, in the ZG/ZA that will take even longer than it usually does, only to absolutely not be able to complete the final and thus not get any VP (the only reason you're even in there), or else you can drop group, be THAT guy and not do your part to help the newbie learn the fight.
Oct 18th 2011 10:53AM Although it's woefully buried, they have in fact removed the trick or treat talk to innkeepers thing. You now get stuff from the pumpkins beside the innkeeper, and I am pretty sure everything you used to get from talking to innkeepers.
My own question: Given that the overachiever column doesn't seem to be updated, is there anything new about the pumpkin head thing? Do I really have to do the putting out fires daily twelve times to get the achieve or is there a different way of getting pumpkin heads? Wowhead says it drops from the headless horseman, but I didn't see that happen when I killed him.
Aug 9th 2011 8:44AM doh, reverse that ratio: 1 jerk to 8 decent.
Aug 9th 2011 8:41AM I have actually been pretty lucky with Troll PUGS. The ratio of jerks to decent people is about 8 to 1, means there's about one jerk every other PUG. But you know what they say about a rotten apple.
I try to be patient if people aren't geared or whatnot. It's a pug, and I assume everyone else is likewise working on getting geared up and not just grinding.
I don't even mind "hey, why are you using that enchant?" or "on that fight you should have killled the kitties first" or otherwise useful advice, given in helpful spirit or not.
It's the micromanagers that get me. "OMG, your frost mage.erryone knows its pvp spec!!!" "Why don't you have [insert name of weapon that drops in dungeon we are in? Evvyone knows a bear has to have [same weapon] if they're gunna tank in here."
Time is at a premium and I can do a troll run a day most days, so i REALLY try to suck it up when there's a jerk. I don't have time to queue for another half hour or whatever.
But if someone meets the jerk trifecta (mean/critical, inconsiderate, AND bad at their role), they get a kick.
