Feb 8th 2012 8:53AM I've left two guilds in the past year. The first one, I was in a Firelands progression group whose raid leader was the GM's girlfriend. She was so stubborn, refusing to try different strategies on bosses and treating the teenagers in our raid group like children (the younger one was slightly immature at times but always showed up prepared and on time, the older one had me convinced he was in his 20s until he told me his age). One night after raid, I logged to an alt, and when I got back on my main, I had mail from the raid leader saying she was removing me from the raid group. I was so infuriated with her cowardice to not speak to me (we were on realID), I formed my own raid group with the aforementioned teens and a few others. My boyfriend ended up getting us all into another guild.
The next guild started out well - we were all quickly accepted into the top raid team and started pushing heroic content together. The GM's roommate turned out to be a problem. He was incredibly elitist and hot-headed, not to mention he had a real problem with women who won't just "shut up and do their job" (direct quote from him to me, I'll never forget it). I like to think I'm more patient and tolerant than I used to be, but one night we talked to our GM about him on Mumble, and as soon as he got home he hopped on and started attacking us. I'm not proud, but I definitely did not stay calm, accusing him of being a misogynistic pig and an elitist who doesn't have the cred to be an elitist.
After that incident, several of us got together and raided the guild bank, and server transferred. I'm not proud of that either, but as I was the primary herber/fisher, I didn't feel as bad as I probably could have.
Feb 7th 2012 12:58PM I fill a couple of roles in my guild. I'm the only girl, so the boys all come to me for RL love life advice (which I've repeatedly told them I'm terrible at giving). I'm the Team Mom, trying to cheer people up after a bad day and trying to make sure we all stay calm during tough situations. And then I'm the fisherman/chef/alchemist, as well, so I'm the one with all the feasts and cauldrons.
Jan 27th 2012 10:28AM I got into WoW through one of my best friends since childhood, and the two of us got one of our mutual friends into it. We don't play together, we're all in different guilds on different servers now.
I actually met my current boyfriend in game 3 years ago, and we've made some lasting friendships in game as well. We recently went on a road trip, and met a few of our guildies in person along the way. I like to think that I consider many of the people I know in game as real life friends, even though we may live many miles apart.
Jan 9th 2012 9:54AM My very first character, Atiqua, was named after a girl in my drawing 101 class at art school. I liked her name, so I used it. After that, I admit I went to babynames.com and picked names that were unique and/or had a meaning I liked (Tavaril, Zeneviera, and Quiana were all named this way).
My current main, a resto shaman, got her name from my dad. I was on the phone with him while I was making my character and asked him for a name. He asked me a few questions about the game and my character, and gave me the name Aviendra, which I adore.
Jan 2nd 2012 12:54PM I had a huge crush on Tobias too. Something about the quiet, dreamy introvert. I was a lot like Rachel as a kid (still kind of am, I guess), and I always liked how Tobias could calm Rachel down.
My dad went on eBay a couple of years ago and bought the whole series for me, which I now reread once a year.
Dec 15th 2011 5:42PM I'm rolling need on this one!
Dec 8th 2011 9:29AM My friend played an undead priest at the time, so I pretty much had to roll Horde. I wanted to be a blood elf, I thought the background on their character creation screen was just gorgeous. So I clicked the blood elf female button, and then had to choose a class. I knew I wanted to be a caster from previous RPG experience, so I eventually picked a warlock after my friend told me they had demon pets. I named her after a girl in my drawing 101 class in art school. She still has that name, although she's had two server transfers.
Now I play a troll resto shaman, whose name I got from my dad. He asked what type of character it was, and gave me a name for her.
Dec 8th 2011 9:25AM You are awesome.
Oct 21st 2011 11:18AM Twilight Sparkle is a mage obviously, but what about the others? I can see Pinkie Pie as a warrior. A silly, pink haired, fluffy warrior.
Oct 1st 2011 1:03PM My guild group is pretty cool about it. We have at least one 5-10 minute break about halfway through our raid, but if anyone ever has to pee before that, we don't make a fuss. Usually we'll just keep pulling trash or whatever. There have been nights where I'm making dinner while raiding, and no one cares. It helps that we're all friends and are pretty lighthearted.
