Apr 1st 2012 5:44AM Viable in comparison to the rest of the Spec's but after 4.2 Arcane was at the very top on almost every fight barring Alysrazor which was fire at the top.

A Pure DPS should always be looking at the difference between their top spec and their desired spec as their only job is to deal as much damage as possible, if it's the difference of say 1-2k usually you have the choice, so in 4.2 Frost was viable but only in BiS gear and even then Arcane surpassed it by 3k dps in theory, much more in reality.

It's also a strange fact of the mage class that we tend to all group together whenever one of the spec's becomes the best, you don't really see it with other classes, but if say Fire gets a 5% buff and comes out 0.2% better dps you can bet that the majority of mages will swap to fire.

Mar 30th 2012 5:03PM It didn't help that the Madness fight felt unnecessarily long, you were simply repeating each platform but slightly more difficult each time. Compared to end bosses such as Lich King, Yogg-Saron, Illidan and Ragnaros, even bosses like Nefarion or Cho'gall etc the Madness fight seemed long for the sake of it, not long because it felt like to kill this guy it will take a long time.

Mar 30th 2012 5:00PM I found it to be the worst raid of the expansion, that being said I really disliked Firelands too. With fights like Madness being the same fight repeated for 10 minutes just 4 times, got old, quick. As well as fights that were way too simple, Morchok and Ultraxion much?

I did like a couple of the fights, I found Yor'sahj and Warmaster executed very well but I found Spine lacking in design, sure you get to fly on Deathwing's Back, but unless you are falling off of it (not recommended at home) then you don't even feel like anything is happening, you don't feel any momentum whatsoever from being on DW and it feel's meh to me.

The repetitiveness is my biggest complaint of Dragon Soul. It's the most repetitive Raid ever, Morchok, single phase fight, Yorsahj, rinse and repeat on the adds, sure you can get different ones, but the boss never has any different mechanics, Zon'ozz, 2 Phases, Ping Pong and Black Phase, rinse and again repeat, Hagara has the most phases sitting at 3, but only one do you actually fight her, the rest are movement orientated and again repeated too often, Ultraxion, 1 Phase Fight again (No Exiting the Twilight doesn't count as a phase), Warmaster, 2 Phases, Spine 1 Phase and Madness, technically 5 Phases, but 4 are repeated.

That's my biggest complaint, there isn't a single fight I can think of with a phase change based on the % of a boss' health, it might get harder but that's about it, the complexity has gone out the window in this raid and I have to say I preferred To(G)C.

Even the trash is repetitive though, I mean in Yor'sahj and Zon'ozz's room you don't feel like you're really getting anywhere, because you are just clearing in a room, you're not having to fight your way through corridors etc to get to the boss waiting at the end, you can pull the boss at the start if you want to wipe, also the trash sets are all pretty much identical 3 slimes in yor'sahj and the tentacles in Zon'ozz, this is coupled with Ultraxion trash, generally regarded as the worst trash in a raid at least to the people I know, and even Hagara trash tends to be boring.

The trash doesn't seem to stop you getting anywhere, just there to slow you down, the bosses feel like you are repeating the same 1-2 minutes of the fight over and over (especially true on Madness) for the sake of making the fight longer, and the mechanics are mind numbingly boring.

To improve their raids in MoP, I am hoping, the return of Hard Modes, not Heroic Toggles, more phases to encounters, think Mimiron in Ulduar for instance, that's one of my favourite fights in the game, not every fight needs to be complex but the last 2-3 bosses NEED to be interesting, and difficult, not just difficult for the sake of it. Especially the last boss of an expansion, I don't think anyone will compare Madness to the complexity of the LK and say it's an improvement.

Mar 28th 2012 1:03PM @Shinae I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Blizzard was changing the gathering professions to be equal to crafting profession bonus' and whilst they made the change they would just remove them entirely.

At the moment crafting professions give an extra 80 stats, with only Blacksmithing (+epic gems) being higher, usually these equal out especially at the start of an expansion with all the main crafting professions giving the same bonus to a class (even proc's like Lightweave for tailors math'd out to be +80 intellect overall) (though with some like LW it might not give a bonus to spellpower for example), meaning for heroic raiders many were forced to give up gathering professions

Arcane Brilliance: Mage glyphs in Mists of Pandaria {WoW}

Mar 24th 2012 5:12PM The Mana Gem Glyph could be useful if you are playing arcane, instead of going down to 85% mana and bursting the gem you would be able to pop the gem at say 95% and then your next 2-3 casts will be at 100% mana rather than just the one currently.

There might also be mechanics in fights that will it will be useful for not that I can think of any previous examples right now.

Mists of Pandaria enchants revealed {WoW}

Mar 22nd 2012 4:48AM Enchant Weapon - Jade Spirit: Permanently enchants a melee weapon to sometimes increase your Intellect by 1,650 when healing or [b]dealing damage[/b] with spells. If less than 25% of your mana remains when the effect is triggered, your [b]Spirit[/b] will also increase by 750. Requires a level 384 or higher item.

Does this suggest Spirit will once again be useful for dps classes? If not then it's just for Discipline and I think Monk Healers I guess.
