Feb 3rd 2009 1:21PM They're run on some of the faster "super computers" in the world -- there was an annual "Top Ten Fastest Computers" article recently, and Blizz owns like 4 of the top ten..
IIRC, instance servers are indeed separate from the realm servers, but are deployed with the battlegroup; everyone from the same battlegroup is sharing the same instance servers.
Dec 3rd 2007 8:45PM Wow! I'll totally use this! As class leader/guild officer, I get peppered with questions about gear and loot all the time..
Oct 21st 2007 12:38PM @4
Low droprate or not, this entire event stinks of PR to give non raiders same stuff as raiders.
I've never seen the harm of giving the "non-raiders" gear that the "raiders" have.
I mean, srsly? that's your problem?
Oct 21st 2007 4:39AM I'm curious, Amanda, what the answer to anon @9 posed.. I see the same numbers they are, and I'm not sure how its /not/ an increase in DPS.
...also, for tracking dps and damage ranges, I'm sure you know there's a number of really thorough add-ons that could help you, Recount being the foremost of them.
Oct 7th 2007 12:28PM ...and don't forget that as a mage, you're one of 4 DPS classes, and will have a hard time getting instance runs and guilds
Jun 25th 2007 5:44PM @2 - yeah.. I popped into the comment thread to point that out.
Mar 15th 2007 1:24PM Meh.. I'm not in a guild that is actively raiding.. and my server (Malfurion-H) doesn't have any raiding guilds..
Hey, how about a feature/discussion topic on "how the hell do I find a raiding guild?" :(
Mar 15th 2007 12:22PM The 360 runs variant of Windows, so the porting would be easy easy.
The 360 has oodles of USB ports (plus BlueTooth, IIRC... I haven't bothered to investigate what the wireless spec they use is..) so I can't imagine not having mouse/keyboard support. The idea that you'd have to use their controller is silly, guys..
I've been wondering for a while why you /wouldn't/ want still more people to come into the game, and the biggest reasons probably are:
- the difficulty of enforcing patching
- the cruddy 480i resolution of default TVs (not everyone has an HDTV..)
- the lack of a pricing model that would make a hobbled version of the UI (due to display issues form the TV) a worthwhile investment, low enough for casual gamers, a retail price-point on the game itself that doesn't discourage people from "upgrading" to the PC/Mac version, AND high enough so that semi-casual WoWer's don't switch platforms..
- #1 -- Blizzard has gotten seriously, hardcore burned on platform game development in the past
Mar 9th 2007 7:23PM @OP - Malfurion-H :)
@1 - jealous!
@2 - Yeah it was.. I rode my scooter around instead of the bus for a couple days... will we ever see it again??
@3 - Ys has gotten tons of play in my world since it came out.. I picked up Milk-Eyed Mender, and have been slowly adding it to the mix..
