Aug 26th 2011 7:40AM For the most part, I point the finger at the players when it comes to the low population of tanks. Tanks quite frequently get treated like garbage and lots of people don't want to put up with dumbass DPS'ers yelling at them. Have you ever run a random? Do you have any idea how much tanks get abused?
DPS screw up all the time. Pulling aggro, pulling non-engaged adds, afk'ing, sitting in fire, etc. And when DPS screws up, people just roll their eyes. But if the tank makes a mistake, you'd think that he just shot someone's dog. While its true that a tank error has bigger consequences, other players need to let them be human.
Why would someone want to que to tank when this is what they put up with? Why would I play with a random group of people when I have far and away the largest responsibility, the smallest margin for error, and the first one blamed when something goes wrong? There is a health population of dickheads in the WoW community, and they are the biggest reason for the low tank population.
Jul 29th 2010 9:27PM Wow. I mean wow. Note to self don't roll a hunter.
Jul 29th 2010 7:49PM Ok, here's a good Huntard story.
When ICC first came out last year, I joined a pug that was being led by a warrior tank friend of mine and we took a bunch of people into ICC to farm for Ashen Verdict rep for a few hours. Before we started pulling trash, my friend CLEARLY stated to everyone that if a BoE dropped, it would go MAIN SPEC first, Off Spec second, and if neither it was open roll to everyone. About an hour into clearing, and to the RL's delight, the BoE tank gun Rowan's Rifle of Silver Bullets dropped. He rolled, and being the only tanking warrior in the group, everyone knew that he was pretty much entitled to it. Or so we thought.
One of the huntards in the group rolled immediatly after my tank friend and rolled a higher number than him, and promptly asked him to hand the tanking gun over. The RL reminded him that BoE's were to go to main spec first and that the huntard had no business rolling on it, to which the huntard replied "The gun is main spec for me. I need the hit." EVERYONE in the raid laughed and this retarded piece of huntard specimen. This dude seriously thought he was entitled to roll on a tanking gun. People kept telling him that it had dodge, parry, str, etc. and it was obviously NOT a huntard weapon. He responded by saying that it did more base damage than his current gun. Now grated, he was correct in that case, but let's be real...THAT IS A GUN DESIGNED FOR TANKING! And I'm sure that a lower level gun with Agi/Crit/AP/ArP etc would make a better weapon than Rowan's.
So the RL and this huntard fought it out for a few minutes in raid until the huntard dropped group (along with one of his friends that agreed with him), and proceeded to go to Dalaran and trash my tank friend's name in Trade chat and telling everyone he was a ninja.
If there is any consolation to hunters out there, is that I really don't consider hunters to be the retarded until proven innocent class. No, that class belongs to Death Knights now. Which reminds me, maybe the Lichbourne writer needs to write a similar article about his DK associates.
Jul 3rd 2010 11:08PM LOL, oddly enough after running my own sims, the ArP trinket from 25m regular RS ends up being my BiS along w/Herkumel War Token. Funny, never thought I'd be striving for an ArP trinket for my shammy...

"I still don't understand why other Warriors are so upset about AoE tanking."
Before I say anything, I want to say I love my warrior tank friends and they are incredibly good at what they do. But from what I have noticed the past few years (and especially this expansion), is that warrior tanks have a serious sense of entitlement. I know that's gonna make alot of you warrior tanks defensive, but I can't help what I see. Without question, the warrior class has DOMINATED the tank role since vanilla, and the people that play it don't know how to handle not being as good in a certain area as other tanks.
Because Blizzard has made warriors the premier tanks since WoW launched, the vetaran warrior tanks have to come believe that warriors and warriors only should excel at tanking. And once a class surpasses them (ie pallys at AoE tanking) in a given area, they tend to feel that their abilities should be immediatly brought up to par, if not overly surpassed. The warrior tanks in my guild have adjusted to the changes throughout Wrath and have done just fine. Have warriors been the top tanks in WotLK? No. Do the ones that know what they're doing let it bother them? No. And its those warrior tanks that are still the MT's of their guilds (including the MT warrior in my guild).
Does the warrior tank deserve some more buffs in Cata? Sure. Should the tank classes be a little more balanced? Absolutely. But the thing Biohazzard is missing, as he asked above, is that he is dealing with a class that just doesn't know how to handle not being the undisputed best of all classes. Hopefully, Cata reforms tanking enough that the various tank classes are diverse but have their own areas of expertise. If this happens, thankfully we'll get past this tank controversy.
Apr 7th 2010 8:28PM Hey Rich! Im lookin forward to alot of these changes as well and im hopin it makes us a little more viable in PVE content. Also, wanted to send you a gratz on getting Keleseth's Seducer a few days ago. I checked your WoW Armory and saw you picked up that lovely little gem! I've been waiting for that little bastard to drop, but it just never does. For whatever reason, Cryptmaker has dropped 4 straight weeks though...ugh.
Feb 24th 2010 10:41PM Grats warriors! Though my main is a paladin tank I do like seeing other classes get buffed.
Nov 29th 2009 5:59PM Lol, this kinda reminds me of a PUG I did a few weeks ago for 25m VoA. We downed Koralon easy, but for some reason we wiped on Emalon (dont think melee realized they had to MOVE on his AoE lightning attack). Anyway, since Kora was alredy down, about 20 people dropped and it was just 5 of us. So, i assumed RL and ML and pugged 5 more people so we could at least do 10m VoA. I didn't need it but the people left over said they wanted gear from there. Everything went smoothly for all 3 bosses and after we killed Archavon, the loot window popped up on my screen, and lo and behold, for the first time I'd ever seen it drop, the mammoth mount dropped! For about 2 seconds my dark side tempted me to ninja it and drop group. Then I thought to myself....do i really want to risk pissing off 9 people so I can have, when you get down to it, a small computer file composed of 0's and 1's? No thanks. I didn't get it but I was happy cuz the person that did was a newly christened 80.
