Aug 23rd 2011 11:21AM I believe Blizzard did say something about mobs no longer dropping high level potions prior to Cata's launch. I remember reading it and not being surprised when I leveled thru 85 and never saw one drop. I don't know if it qualifies as a full blown "philosophy change", I think they just wanted to give alchemists a little more income and encourage players to spec into potion mastery.
Aug 17th 2011 6:03PM Oh SNAP! My Hunter can wear goggles ALL THE TIME NOW!!! WOOT!!
Aug 17th 2011 11:55AM Does it seem obvious to anyone else that since we're being given an NPC to change the appearance of our armor (but not being told WHAT it can look like), and an NPC to store old armor pieces about 6 inches away, that the visual options for the transmogrification very well could the pieces of armor that you have stashed in the void?
Jul 27th 2011 12:16PM Yeah, the good ones make you laugh AND cry. This was just... awkward.
Jun 4th 2011 12:58PM I think there are three major expansion they can reach into without creating material wholecloth (as mentioned above) or really wreaking havoc on the timeline:
The Emerald Dream
Lands of Mystery/Pandaria (Wherever the Pandaren come from)
The Twisting Nether
With these three expansions and each expansion being 5 levels now, this would cleanly have us killing Sargeras at lvl 100.
After/During the Twisting nether expansion, we could pretty easily get your planes-walking on to get to places like Xoroth, Karesh & Argus. Future expansions would probably be a combination of traveling to these locations and cataclysm like revamps of azeroth and outland.
Dec 16th 2010 2:19PM This is neat, but they keystones are pretty valuable. I mean, you can get 3 from one site, or go all day without getting even ONE of the correct type, since the sites you can investigate are chosen at random. So if you need, for example, Tol'vir keystones, its going to take a lot of luck or a lot of time to find them, just to burn them on a dungeon buff, instead of a rare relic. Maybe I'm wrong, but there's no precedent in the game I am aware for giving a group buff in a dungeon with this kind of price tag attached.
And what happens in a random if some tool drops party 30 seconds after you spend the keystone? Does his replacement get the buff instead?
Bottom line, I think the cost outweighs the benefit. Make it cost 6-12 arch fragments of a specified type (treated as currency) and I think it will be worth it.
Nov 23rd 2010 12:33PM Beats the HELL out of "I'ma Tree"
Dec 3rd 2009 12:52PM I think the author does a significant disservice glossing over the Outland Cooking dailies. The recipe drops are totally off the RNG and have an abysmal drop rate. After two months of farming for even 1 of the 3 I needed, I gave up trying, and went back to actually playing the game. If you don't have any of these recipes yet expect a VERY long grind to get them.
