Dec 17th 2009 12:59PM Seems like I remember Guild Wars having a "Vote to Skip" button for cinematics. If everyone clicks it, then it skips. If someone hasn't seen it yet and wants to catch the lore then you have to watch it. The only down side to this was getting the "OMG who isn't clicking!!!1!!!", but it was anonymous so you would never really know.
Dec 17th 2009 11:12AM H HoR really is the widowmaker of the 5-mans. All roles have to be at the top of their game. I healed this for the first time yesterday. The tank was great, I kept everyone alive all the way through till the 4th wall on the Arthas run. Two of the DPS were 3K+, the third was only around 2K tops. We couldn't get them all down before Arthas got there. It is going to be hard for me not to decline a group if I see much less than 3K from the DPS. That instance is a lot of work to heal and it is frustrating getting that close not to be physically capable of pushing through to the end.
Dec 17th 2009 10:58AM With Tharonja in particular, you barely have enough time now to pop off a heal between phases before you get stunned again. This is a welcome change to both fights. Neither were ever particularly difficult, so its not really a nerf to do fewer phases.
Dec 14th 2009 2:38PM By the way, it is totally possible (for a DK anyway with runeforging) to def cap without breaking 25K stamina. You can gem for it and you can enchant on top of that. Since you are supposed to def cap before you add stam according to the popular theory...there can easily be new 80 tanks sitting here. In fact, before Ulduar there were a LOT of def-capped tanks running around 25K and less. Now, I wouldn't necessarily want one tanking my H-FoS, BUT it is totally plausible to see one in random.
Dec 14th 2009 2:33PM @Reuben Yeah, people just need to communicate that they need it in this case. Most likely, people will be fine with that. I have never had anyone say, "nowai u can't hav that lewt!!!!1!" if you ask nicely. Most people are really cool about it.
Communication, folks. It's what separates the men from the boys.
Dec 14th 2009 9:47AM This is actually one of my biggest problems with heroics for badges. Everyone is starting to get way overgeared for them and they are getting snotty when people just out of leveling try to run them. I tried to run heroics a few weeks ago on my DK tank (def capped through crafting, gems, etc). People kept kicking me cause I wasn't raid geared and when they didn't they pulled stuff off me constantly. Then someone told me I needed to get tank gear by off-speccing dps in heroics and getting enough badges. This was before last week with the new "randoms as badge pinatas" so I was really not interested in grinding dps till I was allowed to tank. I would never be able to practice tanking since it was what I wanted to do
I understand that people want to burn through these things for the badges, so I blame the system more than the people. No one wants to help ungeared tanks get through heroics - even though that is what the 5-man heroics are supposed to be for: gearing for the higher level content. I hope they think through this process a little better for Cataclysm.
Dec 14th 2009 9:13AM This actually happened to me in Nexus one day. Except the healer was also like - this is my brother's character and I've never played it. To his credit, though, we did finish. It just took like an hour.
