Is it time to kill the global cooldown? {WoW}

Nov 15th 2011 5:33PM WoW already suffers greatly from the latency monster. Every 100ms latency detrimentally effects your performance, with some specs by quite a lot. Removing gcd would just make this problem worse. If the gcd was removed, the fights would be so fine tuned that anyone over around 150ms may as well boot up Bejeweled, because WoW dungeons would be 2-3 times harder than for the lower latency players, and raiding would just be insane. Do some checking of network performance vs raiding performance (look at logs for Oceanic guilds compared to US ones in raids) and you will understand that WoW isn't balanced, it's completely off kilter.

Aug 18th 2010 4:49PM I think dispersion is fine and I am definitely a PvE player (I don't play shadow in PvP). The change I would like to see is that it does 3x the normal mana regeneration if used out of combat.

Apr 26th 2010 11:58PM It wont matter if you are sick for the soft reset, because the gear you were going to buy with the Valor points before the reset will almost certainly be available after your points were converted for Hero points. You will be able to buy the same gear with the downgraded points, and will be at the same starting point as everyone else.

Apr 8th 2010 4:42AM Hunters who have feigned, rogues who have stealthed. Tanks who are about to pull the 3rd pack when you are nearly oom and ressing one of the dps. All of this could be fixed by Life Grip, except it is short range, so most of the time you want to use it, you cant.

Apr 8th 2010 4:14AM Three new spells. One makes up for a current gap in the class. One is an alternate buff to Inner Fire, so not really something that adds to our arsenal, just gives us a choice to what buff we want. The last one sounds really cool, but probably wont be more than a gimmick.

Life Grip's two examples given for PvE were pretty much both a "Someone else wasn't paying attention, so we will pay attention for them." It isn't healing damage which is often unavoidable, its making up for someone elses mistakes. This isn't an addition to priests, it is the ability to spend our global cooldown to make up for someone elses mistakes.

30 yard range on Life Grip means it wont be usable at full healing range, which will limit it a lot (all other helpful spells are 40 yards) and I suspect there will be a fair amount of "target out of range" when trying to use it. Also I think it will mostly be used as a joke rather than a serious ability, causing people to get annoyed at the Priest class in general and not want them in PuGs because you never know when the crap players will think using it on the tank would be a laugh, over and over and over and over....

New spells are a gap fill, something we can only use at the cost of another of our normal spells, and a gimmick. I doubt that many other classes will have such a poor selection of new abilities.

I also hope it was an oversight and Priests will get the same DoT extension as Warlocks, rather than clipping the final tick.

Cataclysm dispel mechanics {WoW}

Apr 5th 2010 10:09PM Yah, they have had to put a lot of work into "saving" a game that was already working really well - all because of Arena. It's stupid. One ability is overpowered in Arena, balanced in PvE, so they nerf it and all of a sudden that class isn't wanted in PvE any more. The same in reverse, buff a class to make them balanced in arena, and all of a sudden so many people reroll to play them because they are overpowered in raids. Then they change the encounters to try to fix it, which often just screws more people over, and you have a never ending cycle of PvE nightmare, all because of a single slight imbalance in a part of the game most people don't seem to really care about in any serious way.

It's insane.

Cataclysm dispel mechanics {WoW}

Apr 5th 2010 9:45PM Considering the changes to make healing "more difficult" with regards to spell decision and resource (mana) management - this is a real kick in the teeth.

Healers need to watch their mana, pick the right targets, use the right spell, make decisions about dispelling/cleansing, watch out to see if someone else is healing/dispelling the thing they are trying to do so as not to overlap too much....

Dps get to stand there and pew pew, and occasionally move out of the fire, though it is more likely they will just continue to stand in it and complain at the healers for not keeping them up. Especially with the larger health pools.

I hope that Cataclysm doesn't make the current Tank:Healer:DPS ratio even worse than it is now, but it looks like it probably will.

Mar 2nd 2010 9:46PM Generally there is 3-4 people who roll Greed before someone then rolls Need. Personally I think that considering at the end of ever Heroic one is going to drop, Blizzard should just change it so that there is no roll window, but it will be automatically given to someone randomly.
