Jan 7th 2012 9:21AM Well, I would have to say that "staying true to my gender" seems a bit funny. I play female characters for a couple of reasons (sexist reason: If I have to stare at an ass for hours on end, let it be a cute one, real reason: I like the female models better than the male models on account of pretty).
How do I stay true? Hell, I don't know. What is "true to my gender"? Does that mean I have to like PvP and Raiding because I'm a dude? Is it wrong for me, as a guy, to love collecting pets and mounts? And to hate super competitive environments like the PvP and Raid scene? To hate theory crafting?
And since WoW is a RPG to begin with, shouldn't I be going for an experience where people actually think that the character I am playing is a genuine girl, rather than a dude picking that race 'cause the girls had the biggest breasts?
Nov 17th 2011 10:47AM When I was in my Game Design class last semester, this topic actually came up in our class discussions. Our instructor noted that the only WoW Killer would be a new WoW. While just about every MMORPG is a "cookie-cutter" copy of WoW, why wouldn't they be? It's bar none the most successful MMORPG out there. Everyone wants part of that success.
And in regards to Guild Wars 2 being a WoW Killer... I'm pretty sure that that particular claim is *way* off-base. ArenaNet, and Guild Wars 2, is moving a completely different direction than WoW. An active event system, rather than quests. No "Holy Trinity" (to use the term) Class Structure. STILL no subscription fee. Not to mention ArenaNet is striving to put the RPG back into MMORPG. A personal storyline for your character? That's gold, right there.
Granted, GW2 is going to be a grand experiment in its own right. If it succeeds, we might be seeing more things like it. If it fails, well... I'll be sad to see such a concerted effort at innovation fail.
Oct 25th 2011 11:56AM The release date with be 4/1/2012. Clearly. Because I am still waiting for someone from Blizzard to jump out and yell "Trollface.jpg!", regardless of them saying MoP is as serious as a Heart Attack.
Jan 31st 2011 8:14AM My first death was because of the insane respawn rates. I was in Vashj'ir, and every time I killed a quest mob, two more would pop up.
BOOM. I died. >.>
Jan 27th 2011 12:02AM Hey, here's an idea! Make tabards learnable (a la pets and mounts) and have their effects be treated as a personal aura. Then, you can just access your tabard tab or whatever and click which ever tabard you want to be active.
And if it's an on-use item, it can be a spell, again like pets and mounts.
Dec 7th 2010 10:37PM Rolling need.
Nov 24th 2010 8:36AM Why does everyone start with the achievement Surveying the Damage? When I saw that in the list, I was really disappointed because I had wanted to actually "Survey the Damage" myself. Not just get it as I log in on my character. It seems to me like a really good way to discourage exploring the World after the Shattering. Why did Blizzard do such a thing?

Yes. A thousand effing times YES. I took Business Law this semester and you guys are absolutely right! I'm so glad that someone with some kind of clout is saying this, because if I said it, it would be Troll Central.
Keep up the good work, folks! Removing ignorance is for the best!
