"if you are only doing solo content, what do you need higher level PvE gear for? At i307, you are plenty geared for any non-group content."

I could just as easily ask why anyone needs the World Explorer title. Not everything is about need for some people.

In a massively-multiplayer game, there are a massive number of motivations. To say someone has no business wanting high level gear if they aren't running dungeons isn't exactly fair. And the fact that high level gear exists outside of dungeons helps back that point.

But the other portion of your post, along with the Queue, get to the answer very well. Crafted gear, rep gear, and AH actually go a long way to getting a person to healthy iLvls. And a little PVP can help fill in some gaps, too. If someone wants a lovely set of gear just for cool snapshots of his or her toon, it's very doable.

Mar 26th 2011 3:00PM Just because you don't run a lot of Heroics or Raids doesn't mean you're a solo player.

My friends are all over this country (and, sometimes, world), and WoW is a great way to spend time with them. Even when we're not running dungeons, we might be powerleveling an alt in the guild, discussing the Auction House and server economy, running random BGs, doing dailies, etc. All of these things involve each other and/or the massive numbers of people that make up the game.

Mar 26th 2011 12:52PM If you like PVP in the slightest, this is a GREAT idea at 58 and 68. Turn off your exp, go quest in Outland or NR, respectively, and get awesome gear for the bracket. Turn your exp back on and level out of the bracket through PVP only. Good times.

Mar 26th 2011 12:10PM "Not to put too fine a point on it, but if you don't want to run group content, what do you need better gear for?"

Why do some people complete mindless achievements? Why do some people feel the need to finish a zone once they start it? Why do some people want complete sets of old school gear?

I'm sure there are plenty of reasons people that don't raid want high level gear.

Patch 4.1 PTR: New pet collecting, food, drink and tabard achievements {WoW}

Feb 24th 2011 10:44AM Out of all the notes, the guild tabards are easily Numbers One and Two on my "Awesome Changes/Additions" list.

Breakfast Topic: Has Cataclysm let you down? {WoW}

Jan 11th 2011 12:24PM I agree with you - I really did think of it as a major update to the game, rather than a full-on expansion. And so I am pleased. I like the new talents, abilities, leveling quest gear, leveling in general, quest mechanics, nerd references and plenty more.

I do wish the Goblins didn't look like flailing idiots when they ran though.

Nov 1st 2010 12:27PM Is Adam Baldwin no longer voicing Supes? If he is, then that's three from the Whedonverse.

Battle for Undercity removed in Cataclysm {WoW}

Aug 6th 2010 6:23PM @jishdefish,

Continuity is not a good reason to get rid of a quest while so many other quests continue to exist. Are they going to remove the entire Outland zones and quests?

However, I might agree with folks that think it will be removed because the layout of Undercity will change. It would be unfortunate, but I can understand them not having the time to reprogram the phased event for the new layout.

That made me smile a big, goofy smile.
