Encrypted Text: The Shock and Awe build {WoW}

Apr 4th 2012 5:37PM Chase Christian is an unsporting rogue PVPer? Quelle surprise! I'm on the fence as to whether the sheer amount of unholy glee he displays about ruining other peoples' days in PVP of any kind makes him a bad *person*.

But I don't think one can dispute that he's a good *rogue*.

Why is Blizzard still OK with gender inequality in World of Warcraft? {WoW}

Apr 3rd 2012 5:45PM There are two issues here. One is the chainmail bikini thing, which TBH I think is much less of a problem now we have transmog. Granted I think things like the belly shirt on female pally T13 or DK T10 are stupid, and I'd prefer to have full coverage and for Blizzard to make full protection on tier sets in the future. Female belly buttons do not secrete their own natural armour!

But yeah, less of a problem now. Still a thing, but less of a thing.

The other issue is that Ji Firepaw is a total creeper. I honestly think that Blizzard's designers carry a lot of unexamined privilege - they just don't *think* about things like this. They're OK with gender inequality because they just don't recognize it when they see it.

Speaking as someone who plays Horde on occasion, I'd rather not have my pandaren faction leader be a total creeper.

Shifting Perspectives: The joy of panic {WoW}

Apr 3rd 2012 4:55PM I would find it very amusing if the Symbiosis Spell Reflection required shields. :D

Even if it was changed so druids could use shields! Imagine a bear popping out a shield!

Two Bosses Enter: Mannoroth vs. Lord Godfrey {WoW}

Apr 3rd 2012 12:20AM I pick Option Three: Godfrey drinks the blood of Mannoroth and becomes unstoppable. Mannoroth and Godfrey crush the Forsaken and rule Lordaeron with an even more ironic fist that the Dark Lady's.

Of monks, mains, and the ability to change {WoW}

Apr 2nd 2012 4:11PM Good question ... my first main is currently sitting abandoned on a server where I've got a full alt-economy set up. A combination of the Paladin changes in 4.0 and the fact that I've no longer got a guild on that server did her in. It kinda sucked logging in and seeing names of people you once knew ... whether they were good people or jerk faces everyone had moved on, and the inexorable passage of time depressed me.

So currently my main is a DK on another server where I do have a (very good! The Insiders represent!) guild. But I've got an ele shammy in the wings to take over (and become a panda) in Pandaria; it may not stick, but the shammy and the DK are the Big Two.

And I'm currently leveling a nelf arms warrior on yet another server to do the Alliance side of Mists.

Blood Pact: Some advice for newbie affliction warlocks {WoW}

Apr 2nd 2012 3:36PM Use of the train set - in a raid, no less - proves that you are a soulless, unholy monster. Congratulations! You're qualified to write the Warlock column.

Around Azeroth Beta Edition: Bunnicula! {WoW}

Apr 1st 2012 5:21PM This Carrotcruncher does not look Plump. False advertising!

Around Azeroth Beta Edition: Meet the new boss, same as the old boss {WoW}

Mar 31st 2012 10:16AM I for one welcome our new Core Hound overlord.

Pandaren shaman totems revealed {WoW}

Mar 29th 2012 2:00AM I rolled a troll shammy a couple months ago with the full intention of race changing her into a panda (I did the same thing with a draenei-to-dwarf shammy back before Cataclysm). I'm glad to see my decision validated by these excellent totems.

Mists of Pandaria Beta: First look at the new raid instances {WoW}

Mar 28th 2012 2:22AM Nice artwork ... but if this is accurate, I'm a little disappointed in the layouts. It's yet more "big corridor with a round room at the end" design, like ICC. Karazhan is my favourite raid because each boss has a role and a proper place in the dungeon - Karazhan feels like a working castle, with working castle-y bits. You even have kitchens!

On the other hand you have ICC, with corridors dead-ending in round rooms with bosses in them; bosses doing ... what, exactly? Just hanging about waiting for random adventurers to show up? I'd much prefer dungeons which offered some sense of being places with actual purposes, as opposed to just round rooms suitable for loot piƱatas to be stored in until it's time to slaughter them for purples. Real castles and palaces are entirely lacking in gorgeously paneled "Royal Chambers of Waiting For Regicides".
